Regular moderate exercise log

I've got 4 days of minding a bookshop for a friend, (It's good fun, I find it relaxing, and uses a specialist skill set I had honed in the days before the almost complete destruction of the bookseller's trade in favour of the internet) so I will get four days of moving books around as I promised to do some cleaning and housekeeping stuff in places that don't get done too often That only happens when there are no customers in the shop, though. Tempting as it is to dust anything that moves...

Walking steps stayed about average for out of term time since the mammoth long walk last week.

Legs day :) I managed squats up to 100kg but used wraps for my knees as I'm still nursing the left one, leg extensions and curls and finished with calf raises, I was reasonably pleased with the session as my knee didn't groan.

Rain curtailed outside work and cut down steps. When it dried up I took digs on long walk - as they are 12 and 13 a 500 acre area all to themselves really tires them out. Managed 15K steps on pedometer so a draw between me and laziness.

Morning all. Couple of days since I posted, I think. Had an all day meeting yesterday which is far too sedentary for me - just 5.5k steps by the time I got home. Compensated by going for a long post-dinner walk. First 30 mins of walk very brisk up very steep hill, then relaxed and did a lot of photo taking before walking home. 20,001 steps on return home.

Previous day was a rest day - just over 10k steps clocked up during normal activity.

You definitely beat laziness but got beaten by personal targets and determination to do better. When did you start all this and what was your situation?

@Geoffno6 The basic outline of when and what my situation was is in my signature. To flesh out a little more I am retired and have a kind of home gym which was mostly in place by August 2016. I have recently ordered a rowing machine and will resume some very selected light weights on machine I have and free weights - I have a genetic back issue. The bulk of what I did and still do is on exercise bike and dog walking. I have taken a Nordic walking course and am learning to swim - slow progress.
Hope this fills in details and if it helps good if not let me know.

I have a picture of my drying rack with 7 pairs of jeans dropping down the sizes! I've snuck back up a size since insulin began, but now working back down to the smallest of the 7 again. It's lovely fitting in smaller clothes and having a better choice, but, oh boy, I hated the clothes shopping (both the extra expense and the actual doing of it)!

Looked at the walking statistics on the spreadsheet, checked the last seven days worth on Mr Doofer the Pedometer, realised I had, in fact, smashed through August's Total Steps targets today rather than having another 0.7 of a mile to go. Which I was just about to go and do having done 18 miles today but hadn't got as far as putting my boots back on properly again when I decided to double check how far I really had to go...

Did I go out, or did I stay put? I let the other meter counting numbers in my life make the decision for me so I'm done at 21 miles.

The Continuous walking, Brisk Pace targets still have a few more miles to go before I can say I've smashed August's targets there, but I'm staying ahead of myself, which is pleasing.

Firstly, @Japes that is some effort walking 21 miles in a day - above and beyond. :woot::woot:
I am slowly hitting the comeback trail but never likely to get near that much walking. Today was 3 blocks of 45 minutes. 2 walks with the dogs and assorted other steps will make 15.6k steps on the pedometer. 45 minutes on exercise bike average hr 75% max- the 45 minutes was because I was enjoying the Freya Ridings live video.

Saturday shoulders in the morning, usual routine but staying light and strict form and back in the afternoon for Saturday swim, todays was pairs of lengths, crawl and back stroke, finger paddles and a pull buoy, I also did some body dolphin with swim fins on as my form for fly is poor and won't improve unless I do something about it, a tiring but fun session :)

I am not sure if I did ok today or slacked off. I was awake for at least an hour around 2.00 am last night so felt tired from the start. Managed 10.6k steps and 35 mins on exercise bike so ticked over. I was a bit concerned that pushing it more would rebound on me early next week.

Thx Ian, but what’s your history with diabetes if you don’t mind me asking.

In what way? Type 2. Dx of 7.9 in June 2015 went down to 5.8 in Dec 2015 and remained 5.5 to 5.6 since. Was on 500 mg metformin x2 until I stopped in June 2018. In March eye test showed any damage reversed. I would say I have a poor but not life threatening control at the moment. Is that helpful?

It is thank you. Though I was hoping you’d say it was much higher and you’d brought it down steadily, not that I’d actually wish that on you. I do worry that I’m not really making progress especially after hitting 12’s today despite having virtually no carbs.

A bike ride today, just over 14 miles, along an old railway line that's now a cycle track and along the bank of the river Ouse, I needed a couple of Dextrotabs after 10 miles as I was starting to drop, but no problems, a fun hour and half :)

After a very slow day yesterday - just 6,024 steps, mostly at a snails pace as accompanying my Dad and his wife’s 90 year old mother around Birmingham Botanical Garden - went out for a very brisk walk this morning. Roughly 5 miles and added to bits of walking here and there, hit 15,121 steps of which 13,141 were aerobic.

Evening all. Higher than wanted fbg took away motivation early on but probably recovered some of my mojo by close of play. 35 minutes cycle this morning; Light weights 6 sets of 10 for 8 exercises this afternoon and 50 minutes walking this evening, Overall 10.5k steps, It's going to be a long road back to where I was but I will give it a go.
