Hi Andy12345, first of all please calm down. I'm sure that when your GP saw your blood results he would have ordered a repeat test if he was worried. The GFR is a little low at 60 but this can be due to many reasons; current medications, high blood pressure, being overweight increased mass, recent infections and of course glucose being excreted by the kidneys. A high protein diet has been proven NOT to cause renal damage. It is however advised to eat lower protein when there is already renal damage present in order to halt the decline of renal disease. I personally feel that eating a low carb diet is the way to control blood glucose levels and therefore avoid nephropathy. The way to get all of these diabetic complications is by eating the dreaded carbs, so please don't go back.
The only way around this is to make an appointment to see a GP and ask him to explain all of the results and write it all down so that next time you will know yourself. I get a print-out of all my blood results and keep them so I can see how I'm doing, regards, Deb
