But that all depends on usage and wastage. I'll be more economic if I can use a vial for 6 days, rather than the enforced 3 days in the CellNovoThe cartridges for a pack of 5 (8ml total insulin) are £15.10 compared to a 10ml vile of insulin for £14.08.
So once again the NHS are going to pay more for less!!
You can't test and charge at the same time...
That's a great advantage as I had a problem with reading the combo because of sight problemsAnother benefit for visually impaired...
The pump screen writing and text can be enlarged. The colour screen is great too!!
As far as we are aware to unlock the pump you do up, down up on the pump not press the two buttons this always unlocks it no problem for us.
So far he's had no issues with the plastic ones, that's even while being thrown about by his friends
I'm sure the rep said there would't be any longer tubes than the 70 because people never asked tor them, and the steel sets would be out shortly.
I was told the Rapid D sets should be out in Feb if all goes according to plan, but I wasn't given a definite date. I don't think they have one.
We've not had to change the pump battery yet and its almost 3 week now since we started using it. The rep told us in training you can't have the pump unlocked and the handset at the same time, safety feature to stop you trying to possibly alter settings on both at he same time.
Just checked on the pump battery and we were told that it would last a month, if not more but to change it out after a month just to be safe.
Latest....
Went up to 9 last night (2am) which is high for me.
Thought I would disconnect cannula and check insulin dripping through ok.
Do you think I could get the pump to 'unlock'.... No... I was pressing the two buttons quickly as told.. But no..
Gave up.. Did a correction and went back to sleep.
1st thing on waking.. Still in bed tried again to get pump to unlock... Nope...
Phoned Accuchek and spoke to my favourite man...
I wasn't doing the two buttons fast enough. Apparently there has been a few calls from users regarding this.
The two buttons literally have to be pressed very, very quickly.
I've mastered the technique now.. But there is definitely a technique and very quick speed needed to unlock the pump.
The screen on the handset is not so responsive as a touch screen on a phone. It is likened to that of a garmin.
So when trying to scroll through basal profiles to adjust them on the handset you can inadvertently touch wrongly and end up going into a setting instead of the screen scrolling up. You definitely need to push and scroll rather than swipe and scroll. Again the technique once really known is easy but its just getting used to it.
Still very impressed with it and it is good with being able to lag bolus's etc if needed..and also for being able to type in notes against a reading.
Ie today I guestimated a bolus for a cake whilst out, so I could type in the food I had and that it was guestimated....so thats good for next time.
Its also possible to set up special bolus's if needed. So for me I have quiche and salad 3 times a week.. So I can just type in quiche as this bolus and its there for that particular food that I eat so often.
Clever bit of equipment.. I don't think any other pump I have seen gives the user so much fine tuning.
Very clever bit of equipment..just getting used to the push and not touch screen for handset and the speed needed to unlock the pump...
Magic... Pure magic!!
