The last funeral I went to (thankfully 3 years ago), I bust a gut to wear black (not usually that... er... decorous), and was shocked to find people wearing very ordinary not-made-any-effort-at-all clothes.
One lady was wearing BRIGHT RED.
- but what am I thinking! So sorry! Who is the deceased? Is is the lady who was going into the hospice?
Very sorry for you all. How are the family coping?
Heh! Now you are just showing off your mastery of the colour font

Yes, it is Jean, my ex MIL , she died this week . We are all ok thanks, she lost conciousness for a week before the end so passed peacefully and painlessly which was a blessing.
You have a point though, about the appropriate clothing, it's been so long since I have been to a funeral I have no idea what to wear, I just know that my usual sludge coloured gear won't do. And my social life is next to non existent as far as variation goes, even in the local it's wall to wall sludge and smelly barbour with a dusting of dog hair on special occasions
