Does anyone else suffer with sore cut feeling at corners of mouth/lips ? Is it a symptom of T2 ?

We can't diagnose, so just throwing some ideas out there. If you're still urinating a lot, (it's still early in your diagnosis, right?) you could be a little dehydrated? Chap stick or something based on coconut-oil would probably help. Unless it's oral thrush of course. (Which would also be a T2 thing, and you should check with your doc for that).

Hi Sara, one of the symptoms when I was diagnosed was cuts to the corners of my mouth. I remember them telling me that was one of the signs of some form of diabetes BUT on its own it may mean nothing much. Are you having other symptoms, have you just been diagnosed with type 2? When my glucose levels came down all of my symptoms went away including that one. As Jokalsbeek says though it could be anything and only your Doc can tell you what. x

Hello @Sara100 - cracks such as you are describing can be a sign of a yeast infection, or vitamin deficiency (often Vit B), or anemia, just to mention a couple of things.

When your doctor diagnosed you did he also run a general panel of blood tests? If so, it might be worth asking if anything showed up there.

In the means time, a good lip balm could help no end, although I would be very careful of double dipping. If you apply with your fingertip, and need to add more, use a different finger, in case you begin to contaminate the balm with a yeasty thing.

I tend to get a very dry mouth and sore, cracked lips in the mornings usually. I'm T2 and take Metformin and Gliclazide. I also take Ramipril for high BP. All 3 of these meds, when reading the associated paperwork on the leaflets that are distributed with them, say about causing dehydration, so that could very well be why you are experiencing what you are. Don't know what meds you are on for your diabetes, but that might be an avenue to look at.
