Heya,

I'm doing one shot of Levemir per day (bedtime) since 10 years and have never worried about it, but I read here that two shots is better.
I know I'm supposed to half the dose, e.g. in place of my 40 units, 20 at 10AM and 20 at 10PM.
But if I do this, my BG is slowly rising during the day and night.
Am I supposed to increase my dose until I find something that suits me? Is 40+40 not a bit too much?

Many thanks.

Splitting evenly at the beginning is wise..............but yes, you will need to then test each of those doses separately till it holds you steady.

easier to start with the overnight dose.....then move on to the day......you may find that the original 40 may change and that the split will be uneven......less overnight than during the day for example....

so test the 20 overnight, increase or decrease as required from basal testing.....

test the 20 during the day and do the same.....

you will need to compensate for any basal deficit during the day with bolus while you are testing, but its worth it I think....
