As a newcomer to serious cooking I am looking for recipes. For any recipe I need to know what equipment is needed. "The baking tin" or "the Mason jars" are too vague. For ingredients, mention of sources would be helpful. Also, the amount of product, how to store it, and its shelf life, if not eaten at once. I thought perhaps videos would be the way to go, as even if something is not described or specified it has to appear in the video. So I am looking for recipes known for clarity, precticality and completeness for a novice.

Hi and welcome.

What sorts of things are you looking for? eg meat dishes, veg etc? Do you want low carb recipes?

There are a number of websites that provide a range of options on low carb, eg:

on this forum:

Best of luck. If these aren't what you're looking for, there are many others.

Hi @jsampson To be realistic I doubt that you will find anything which will give you such a comprehensive requirement. I think you might start with a dish which you are interested in and search for that via the sites @KennyA has listed. Then you could take the recipe to a cooking shop and ask their advice on utensils. As for sources you could check supermarket sites on Google and if unhelpful, enquire on this forum. Shelf life is usually stated on the packet and storage advice could also be obtained from any good cook shop. I wish you luck.

If you Google ‘kitchen utensils explained’ you will find various articles which I think may help you. I’m not sure you’ll find recipes which go into the details of baking tins or glass jars etc required for that particular recipe. I think you’ll need to combine the recipe with one of the kitchen utensils pages.
Could you sign up for an evening class for basic cooking skills?

There is a book called “how to boil an egg” which explains some of what you are looking for and has recipes, equipment, things for your store cupboard etc, I don’t know if the recipes will be suitable for a diabetic or what kind of diet you eat but it may be a starting place and as you learn you will be able to adapt recipes and use your new knowledge to use other recipes not in the book
