One thing I picked up on in your post was about coming off medication. To be honest I hadn't given that much thought as I had intended to stay on it (Metformin 500mg x 2/day) until my bs started coming down.
I'd be interested to know from yourself and other contributors how quickly it starts to fall and if there is a danger it plummets as opposed to decreasing gradually.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Today is day five for me. If you look at my thread "a geordie doing the Newcastle diet" I have logged my BG's each day, so you can see how they are going. I am on Metformin 500mg twice a day.[/quot
Just read your posts, it's really helpful that you are posting all your BG figures. You have done very well.
I don't test every day but keep a daily record of my weight.I started kind of proper ND on 16 March I weighed 11st 11 then and today after being on caravan holiday for 10 days I weigh 10st 13. (lost 3lb on holiday). I was 13 st 1 on 15th January.
It was hard on holiday, I like to walk but my husband has a bad leg and he likes to eat out, so I took a blender and lots of veg and had veg soup for breakfast to set me up and had shakes during the day. I cheated a bit, Morrisons in Oban hadnt got any salad dishes, so they asked me to buy a tomato soup and warmed it up for me. On the way back home we stopped in Inverary and I had half a fish (with batter) and my blood sugar went up to 7.3 after 2 hours.
I am eating celery and lettuce cucumber etc. I also eat tinned tomatoes if I can't get fresh, Today - on holiday - I started with veg soup, had salad for dinner on way home It's very hard to eat out, I ask for salad and they put extra meat on because i say I don't want chips. I find it easy not to drink alcohol though.
I am using ASDA shakes, the strawberry is good, very filling, I mix it with a little cold water and mix well and top up with hot water. Does anyone else take the shakes hot or is it just me?
Keep up the good work, it is so inspiring.

Has anyone who has tried this diet or similar found constipation to be an issue?

Not constipation exactly, (oh heck how do I say this)? As there is a lot less waste to get rid of, there is not as much, and it's a tad more solid. I hope you see what I mean, it's a weird old subject to discuss in detail.

How I agree, the water output is unreal. I am never of the darn loo. Are you eating fiber of any kind? Being bunged up is not good.

I am only eating the tomato soup recipe at the moment but it says that should be the fibre intake we need...not sure what I am doing wrong? Maybe I need to try some roasted sprouts or something green
could you change them to ones with a higher fiber content?
