Step into Spring

Hello fellow 'steppers' I've had another energetic diy day. Apart from my usual activity I have been removing underlay that had been down so long it had turned to green powder! Yuk! So it was sweeping the room with a hand brush and then hoovering. Guess who was green after the room wasn't? Lol x

Hello, where are you all? Busy with activities.

My activity for today has been 6 hours of sifting through years of clutter. I have almost burnt out the shredder and have been up and down the stairs taking bags and boxes of paper books and clothes out to the car to be dispersed to charity shop and recycling places. It is going to be a long haul as I have one room clear, the rest packed to the rafters. The clear room is going to accommodate everything from the loft. Glad the weather has been too horrible to go out. Just stopped to eat them back on it.

Wow @Pipp you are working hard! You must be really making inroads into the job. Brilliant! I could fall asleep standing up. I bet you could too. :)

It is just a small fraction of the stuff accumulated over 30 in this house, (twenty + of trying to work, rear a family care for 4 elderly sick relatives, then 10 of serious health problems of my own) add to all our stuff, the collective stuff from clearance of 3 relatives homes and the place has been bursting at the seams. It has to be doe, and we have to be ruthless, because we cannot inflict this on our kids. Trying to get much of it out of the way while the weather is foul, so that we will really be ready to step out in the spring.

No feeling like much progress being made because everything was so disorganised we have to read through everything to make sure we don't destroy anything important. I am feeling tired, but not ready to stop yet.

Sadly I don't think I will, @Pipp it's still really my hibernation time, so I'll struggle till Spring I reckon. I am going to try though and not just wait till Spring like I usually do. :)

Think hibernation is a good idea.

Looks as if lots of other posters to this thread are hibernating too.

Right, back to the shredder for me.

Day out yesterday but did about 45 minutes brisk walking as in a group of friends who are all much taller than me and who like to stay in pub till very near start of event we were all attending. Even walked upstairs in services and car park rather use lift.

Well I've sorted cupboard, but will probably go back for more boxes. So more shopping. Slow cooker on, soup made. Just got to make crustless quiche, and peanut butter and choc brownies.

25 minutes peddling- will claim today's housework as last five minutes. Too wet to go for walk.

Yesterday spent 3hrs helping my sister to supervised 25 children ahhhhhh I was so knackered afterwards i had to crawl to the bar for a celebratory drink before going home... Was in bed by 9pm I was so knackered lol

Wow it would certainly be active supervising 30 children! I've had a funny day. Yesterday's Telegraph crossword with a friend this morning. Visitors. I'm cooking now but think my activity maybe painting this evening. It depends how sleepy I am. :)

My mother in law was a horder and when she died we found boxes of stuff that she had kept from 4 house clearances .... @Pipp you are doing the right thing clearing it now , your family will be very pleased in years to come .

Sorry I had a bit of a skive day to day... No real activity except a bit of cleaning, dusting and hoovering and about 4 loads of washing... Promise to be better tomorrow :):)

I just haven't had time to be formally active but with eldest daughter going away for a year tomorrow I ve been entertaining people or preparing to entertain people . I also had to shower my frail aunt who has dementia , believe me that was harder than 30minutes on numb bum lol

Yes I'm a hoarder too. I've need to keep clutter to feel safe, I'm starting to sort things out now, but it's going to be a long job, I have lots of my parents things and my husband's parents' things too.

So today I did a supermarket shop and a short walk. Still not feeling up to a lot of activity, but I do want to try. So maybe tomorrow this bug will be finally gone?.....

That's a skive day? I watched my husband vacuum, does that count?

It was the loft today. Lots of lifting, bending, carrying and up and down stairs. Loft empty, spare bedroom that was empty yesterday, now full of stuff from loft. That is the sorting area. At least it is getting closer to the outside. Spent 5 and a half hours on that today. Think I will go back to the swimming pool tomorrow.

And yes, we think our kids have had a lucky escape, especially as some of the stuff is theirs.
