struggling big time

@ally1 is the drug beginning with a called Amytriptyline by any chance? I’ve taken that before and had a terrible dry mouth. I was told that medium (50mg, I think I was on) doses cause it but not low or higher doses. I’d go to bed sucking a sugar free sweet and hope I got to sleep before it dried out again, but that presents a terrible choking hazard. I was that desperate though.

I hope you can find a solution, and well done on being the boss at your appointment!
Yes that's the one.
My gp at the moment doesn,t want to prescribe it because of my bipolar meds. If I take it, then my bipolar meds needs to be changed.

Hi Ally,

Tried nose strips? I get sinus trouble and when it is giving me problems, I use nose strips like Breathe Right. Might be worth having a try. I find that if I don't use them when my sinuses are causing problems my mouth gets very dry indeed. I get mine on Ebay, lots of good offers on there.

P
I will look into it once I get my blood tests results and the DN is speaking to my gp tomorrow.
I Don, t though have any problems with my sinuses.
It's mainly the very dry mouth, voice is very hoarse and just recently, a very sore mouth

Curiosity got the better of me and I have just rung my surgery to see if there was any news re the meeting the DN had with my gp yesterday.
The receptionist said gp had put no action to be taken. So I am not sure what to think or do now.
Well the only thing that has changed is that gp has updated the increase in Victoza which I knew from dn when she requested that to be increased.

I would ask to speak to the nurse and find out from the horse's mouth. She was obviously on your side and doing her best to help. I think a conversation with her will be worth while.

@ally1 - I'd tend to agree with @Bluetit1802 . Aside from anything else, it is showing you really do care and you're keeping tabs on them.

Sadly sometimes, out of sight, in a busy workplace, can mean out of mind.

That's a good idea. I will call tomorrow. I know she only works two days at the surgery per week. It's either Wednesday and Friday or Thursday and Friday

Has anyone had a blood test to check thyroid and kidneys?
I had blood tests for these last Friday while seeing the DN. I rang Tuesday late afternoon but nothing back, fair enough. I rang again later afternoon and nothing back yet. I presumed the results would had been sent to my surgery by now

Ours take 24 hours for kidney function. I've never had a thyroid test.

Ally - I've had a load of thyroid testing, of all sorts done over the last year or so, and in my experience they're always about the last to come back from the lab.

I'm not good at waiting, but you'd never have guessed that! :angelic:

@chezabell we need to know a more. If it is a medical emergency go to your local hospital or emergency service. If you need help about something else then please start a new thread with more details and we will try to help.

@ally1 if I know your surgery they will waiting for your gp to see the results.
Are you going to try them again tomorrow?

I am also not good at waiting lol

Yes I will try again today but will wait until this afternoon when its quieter. Normally when test results are at the surgery, it will say then the receptionist will say results are waiting to be seen by the gp

I have just called my surgery. Blood tests results are still not been sent to my gp. I did ask if it's normal not to have them after a week. Receptionist said, you only had them done yesterday, replied no it was last friday, then she said bloods taken on wednesday, again replied no it was last friday. Then she replied, sorry taken on Tuesday.
At this point, I asked to speak to someone more senior. That particular lady said bloods taken Monday. Again I said no, it was last friday and bloods were taken by dn at about 11.40am. At last she agreed.
I did ask if it's normal to wait so long for the results. She said if anything bad had/has shown up that showed urgent help/treatment then the hospital would have been in contact by now.
Fair enough.
It turned out that the days that were mentioned by the receptionist, was when I had called for the results.
Is that normal practice or would it be because I have complained in the past?

Ally, what on earth has the hospital got to do with it? The bloods were taken at the surgery. They go off to the lab, the lab sends the results back to the surgery, electronically. Either the lab is being slow or the GP or the DN are sitting on them. The receptionist is waffling and fobbing you off.
