Sugar v Fat

For anything less than an hour on my feet or the bike I don't feel the need, you shouldn't be deydrating that much in the UK. Possibly fo rinterval training, but that's it. For races of 10k or less, no.

I'll now carry carbs for races of any length, but for 10k, won't taken anything during the race.

Protein is also good for recovery, your protein drink is best taken soon after training, up to an hour after training, in addition to your normal diet.

Absolutely don't worry about a pre-work out banana, as you say you'll be burning that off no problem. For the race itself, I'd carry pre-packcged things just for ease of getting to, or a small bag of mixed nuts and dried fruits. For cycling bananas work as you can put them in your jersey pockets.

What was interesting though was both lost a small amount of weight, originally I predicted high carbs would gain, high fat would lose more.
Yes, although they seemed to focus a lot on the loss of muscle on the no-carb diet - but they lost me at that point as I thought the ratio of fat:muscle loss was the same for both diets, but perhaps I misunderstood that?

Smidge

Smidge, it's on youtube at the moment so fast forwarded to the place. It is confusing but:
'Carb' Twin 1kg weight loss 50% fat, 50% muscle
'no carb ' Twin . They say that he lost 4kg of body mass Then they say to be accurate. 3.5 kg was weight loss 1.5 kg fat. 2.0kg was muscle ( perhaps the other .5kg was water)

Well im not giving up low carbing. My memory was **** for many years before id even heard of low carb. so I think their theory doesnt work.
I don't think anyone will give up low carb just on watching that programme

Someone memory wise said take more vitamin B12. Do a quick google scan there is quite a few foods it is found in and chow down on more of thsoe. I seem to remember sardines a food l dont like being high but others have it as well.

i think the memory part was just stooped, they expected the results they got, placebo

No way will this programme change my mind about low carb, I enjoy my diet but if it were devoid of veggies and fruit I would find it impossible to follow.

It's low carb but not as we know it Jim

Interesting that their cholesterol remained almost the same. They skimmed over that. Would have been interesting to have known the numbers and seen a lipid breakdown.

I have thought of making my own too, but with that "real bread finder" it looks like there's no need.

Ask questions and test though, even artisan bakers add things which, although good for bread, may not be good for us. They usually ahve two or three loaves though.

Well, I'm staying portion controlled, balanced diet for as long as possible.
Firstly, sorry for leaving this topic so abruptly last night...phone calls interrupted what was and still is an interesting thread.
Secondly, Douglas I know you don't agree with LCHF and are very articulate in explaining why. I however, am not convinced that the path I've chosen is wrong. Over the last twenty two years I've tried various methods to control my BG and to date this is the most effective and importantly, most satisfying way of eating (for ME!). Maybe I do need to slightly increase my carb intake.....time will tell.

i think we should listen to our bodies, they will tell us if we are doing wrong..... douglas is an anti, i tend to ignore him on the subject lol sorry mate

Yes, I have noticed you are on opposite sides, tho' not quite pistols at dawn..... yet. Listening to my body is hopefully what I'm doing, in the same way as Douglas and others are listening to theirs. To misquote....We're all walking the same road but to different tunes

yes no pistols, i believe douglas has his heart in the right place so no bad feelings from me, he probly wants to kick me but heyho

and i know im not clever enough to be sure im right, i just think i am

edit: i wouldnt even go that far, id say i think i am listening to the right people, none of its my idea lol

Andy mate, I think you do what suits you, so no problems.
It's always good to share on here, whatever we do, so keep on doing it.

If it suits you, it's not wrong, so keep on doing it.
I don't disagree with LCHF,just not as a solution for all, but if it works, it's the right one for you.

l am stuffed if we are moving to music. l am totally tone deaf god knows what tune l am stumbling along to :-D
