What a good forum that would be. We often hear people saying they are not loosing weight but it is no good making a blanket statement telling them all to go low carb and they will loose the weight because that obviously does not work for everyone for a lot of reasons .For many it could be demoralising making them feel they are failing somewhere when every ones else seems to be loosing weight. A forum to talk to others who are also struggling with weight could be really good

Pleased to read your posts since being on humilyn 3 have put on some weight get down about it but do feel better on insulin have been obsessed with being to fat for years when I get Fed up I eat makes me sick

If I could even try to explain the horrible feeeling of being weightloss resistant - the judgement of others - who think I must be overeating or being a liar! Im kinda increcudlous myself...how is it possible...to eliminate carbs, eat keto, keep well within calorie limits ( but not starved) and still stay exactly the same. Knowing that if I ate what I liked ( if it weren't for blood sugars) id also be the same. I am spending time every day researching this...

I just think it would be good to have a place where those of us who, despite our best efforts, cant seem to shed the weight.

There may be reasons for this that are, as yet, not understood medically.

There may be mental, emotional or physical health issues, or a combination of issues.

But whatever the reason, I wanted a thread for us to support each other, without people coming on telling us we are doing X,Y or Z wrong, and just being there for each other.
I didn't lose last week, but I know why.
Sister's 50th birthday party carbs.

I know once I have bariatric surgery everyone in my family will be having an opinion on what I should be eating.
I'll be sticking with my dietitian, she is supporting low carb. :)

You can lose weight on humulin m3. You have to reduce your insulin resistance so you're able to reduce your insulin. Can you walk without pain and are you on painkillers?

The frustration I have for my body constantly in autopilot to add weight.
So first I have to beat my natural bodies response to add weight, then lose weight, then keep up actions which are helping with insulin resistance and fight the erge to increase my insulin injections which feed the insulin resistance and the added weight, which feeds it too.
In otherwords be a practised juggler.
It can be exhausting!

If unwell on top, very very difficult job.

Those who do lose weight with sw or ww or just doing what we do naturally, don't know the half of what we have to do to fight the flab!
Of course, we give up. Who fights a fight which looks inpossible to just keep level with their opponent. With no sight of a win?

I win on rare occasions but am I dammed if I know why. If I knew I'd do it all the time.
A broken metabolism is very very difficult to fix. Ask the experts!
The best we can do is understand our own broken metabolism and try and help it along.
Whichever way we can, with our best efforts.
Rome wasn't built in a day.
I lose very very slowly but lately I've managed to shift the weight off by low carb, low fat. I don't know why, but its working. When I'm not eating party food, that is.

I'm also struggling to loose weight I exercise up my local gym and on my exercise bike I am vitamin d deficiency and take an ample of d3 monthly for maintenance I tend to do the opposite I get stressed then starve myself to see if my weight drops off I've been stuck on 19 stone for the 2 years I've been diabetic and is now starting to get me down has there is no end insight no light at the end of the tunnel and when I tell my doctors they don't believe me that I exercise and watch what I eat

@Arsenal79, please don't try and starve yourself, it won't work as your body will just slow down burning energy to compensate.

You know what you are doing to be the healthiest you can be so don't be disheartened by the doctors who have no idea of the work you have put in.

The light is aceptance and knowing that each day you are doing your best. It's not simple or easy but I have no other option if I want to keep my mental health.

@Arsenal79 we are reminded by health professionals that diet is the biggest influence on our weight.
I disagree. Our hormones are. Then diet.
I know why your exercising but have you meter tested your bg before and after exercise? Some exercise was causing me stress which increased my bgs. Hence I wouldnt lose weight. Keeping my bgs low is the only way I lose weight.
I started walking and slowly getting ready for my swim. I even used a liver block before getting the pool, which worked well. Can you monitor your bgs frequently?

ive gone ketogenic for the past 8 weeks...and ive lost 16lbs ...its included some fasting which I found really easy. its a real revelation for me. I read the obesity code

Its harder it give up comfort food.and.to stop emotion eating than smoking

Do you use comfort eating or have change of eating habits depending on emotions @MollyLarkins ?

If that were the case for me then I would have a clue as to why I haven't lost weight for a long time.
I've only just realised I no longer have emotional binge eating.
I'm trying to get the free mind time to distinguish why this has changed.
So far I'm putting it down to losing my carb cravings which may also influence my binging for those foods in distress too.
Mind u I have an excellent psychologist listening to my traumas, once a month as my mother incapable.
But I think losing carb cravings came first!!!
Low carb diet and insulin therapy has put my insulin levels right. Thyroxine level tweaked too.
Diet of reduced starchy carbs and no excessive fat has made a huge difference to my metformin and acid reflux management. Lansoprozol helping hugely with metformin side affects!!
Because my metformin can get in my system steadily and long term it is helping me lose weight again, at last.

@ickihun
Are you saying that you think you have now sorted a weight loss regime that is working for you? Very pleased for you if that is the case.

In my previous post, I was not saying that I binge eat, but if that was the case then I would seek help for that eating disorder. Though I realise that is not easy to do. I was just curious about the comment made by @MollyLarkins, and wondering if she needed help.

I'm losing @Pipp . currently half a kilo to a kilo a week.
I think lansoprozol and metformin long term reducing my weight and as a result I can take less insulin. Orilstat fat blocker slimming tablet has been prescribed but im not taking 3 meals worth for not wanting it's side affect to be antisocial. Currently only taking 1 a day as it works on next meal too. On a semi low fat diet. Just eating no fat I can see. No nuts, cheese or cream either. No snacks. I barely eat 3 meals and portions are kiddy mealsize. No exercise just a nearly daily walk to local shop or hospital visit on crutch support still.

I lost 16lbs initially, in the first three months. Then nothing. I am happy my blood sugar levels are now good, and I am eating to my meter and feeling generally better in myself, but wish my weight would go down.

I too tell myself I should be content to have taken hold of my diabetes, and feel better. But I am disappointed in my stalled weight loss, despite my best efforts.

It affects my depression and I often feel upset about this. I am pleased for those who can lose weight, I really am. I just wish I was one of them : (

I am so with you - yes I lost weight all very slowly and have spent weeks/months with weight not moving - I try to tell myself I am better staying the same and not gaining but I am still obese and need to lose - yes we should be thankful to have got the blood sugars down to a good place but it is so hard.
I weigh every week as I feel I need to keep checking it but the feeling of despair is hard to handle and right now I just want to eat......

You are doing great, weight is not the priority the blood sugars are and we must learn to focus on that at least for now.

At this point my carbs bounce around btwn 40 and 90 and I'm trying to keep protein at around 50 - 80 then control total calories in with how much fat I'm eating.
If I was going to attempt weight loss via calorie restriction again, personally I'd go about it by ignoring the grams of protein, eating it first in the meal and to satiety. It's the most satiating of the macronutrients, the least likely to be over-eaten or trigger binge eating and has thermogenesis benefits (it burns more calories to digest than carbs even though gram for gram the calorie intake is supposed to be the same). I'd also keep carbs under 50g and limit added fat, relying mostly on the fat that naturally comes along with protein.

I think as long as there is a mindset that you can go on a weight loss diet, lose the weight, then go back to regular eating then gaining the weight back is a given. We all accumulated the weight with "regular eating" in the first place. I do believe that only a permanent livable lifestyle change can keep weight off in the long term. What that lifestyle looks like will be different for each person but the one thing it has to have in common is it has to be sustainable and flexible to change as needed, for life.
