Swapping Insulin for tablets

So today the nurse from my doctor's surgery called with my second post-diagnosis hb1ac results. It was 38, slightly up from the first one 4 months ago (37) but both obviously way down from my diagnosis numbers. The implication now seems to be that since things are relatively under control, I should transition from my daily Humulin shot to oral medication. I'll be speaking with the doctor next week.

Anyone else out there gone from shots to pills? I know I should be pretty happy to make the change, but I confess I'm a bit nervous. After all, I lose the ability to up my nightly shot by a unit if dinner is a little carby (is too a word!).

So... good thing? Bad thing? What are the implications?

Anyone have any wisdom to impart?

Rude people !
Must be happy with that ? You may need to watch your diet a little but must be price worth paying. No more aggro with DVLA, no more injections ! I'd be chuffed to bits :)
