6.1 at 11 am which was first chance I had to check. Fasted all yesterday.
Blood glucose 0735 was 5.2, yesterday's food was;
Breakfast: 3/4 cup honey nut cheerios w/2% milk, black tea, 500 mg metformin
Lunch: 4 dried apricots, black tea
Dinner: Shrimp salad plain and one on whole wheat bread, stir fried mushrooms and bean sprouts, 4 or 5 mini dill/garlic pickles, 1 glass red wine, black tea, 500 mg metformin
Snack: 2 glasses red wine, 2 shots Canadian whiskey
Even when my before dinner blood glucose was 3.5 yesterday, whole wheat bread (one piece) is not acceptable with the shrimp salad as my blood sugar went up to 7.8 within 45 minutes after eating (tested every 15 minutes), so maybe I'll try some coarse ground Russian style rye bread next week...
Sounds like a bit of 'dawn phenomenon.....you're body's not stupid......it kind of knows it's not getting anything so dumps glucose into your system to help it get by(that's a real cack-handed explanation but look up DAWN PHENOMENON).Yesterday's food
B - 1 tin of John West mackerel fillet
L - 1 can of coke zero
D - cheesy meaty spinachy pasta made with konjac noodles, 65 g Mersey Valley cheese, 3 mini cheese kranskys and a couple of big handfuls of spinach and kale from a bag.
Edit: Just realised now I may have over-estimated calories and carbs, as it looks like I selected the wrong things in the MyFitnessPal app, so god knows how many carbs and calories this was, I don't think it was over my limit.
Blood glucose when I went to bed was 5.6.
This morning it was 8.3, and when I checked again at 1 p.m. it was 8.4!!! This is with not eating anything as I'm fasting today.
5.6 this morning
Yesterday:
Breakfast:skipped it
Lunch:kippers/tomato,onion,bell pepper salad(fish pan juices and lemon as dressing),300g watermelon
Dinner:Sea Bass/Potato Croquettes/rocket and tomato salad
No snacks
plenty of tea(3 mugs)/coffee(6 cups)/sugarfree squash(2 litres)
Well, they do make you feel like you are somewhat still in control of your life, and as my measurements indicate, they definitely do not cause an increase in blood glucose levels, therefore they must be low carbohydrate snacks, n'est-ce pas?I love the way you report booze as 'snacks' LOL
Saturday 13/4
FBG (5.30am) 4.1
Dinner (6pm): Avgolemono soup {156 Cal / 11.4g Carbs}
All food cooked from scratch, if you would like any recipes please just ask
To some extent, the recipe varies depending on what stuff I have leftover.I'll bite, because this looks interesting. What is the recipe for your version of the Avgolemono soup?
I think it's with or without meds......maybe people could post stating their med status if not already within signatures?Can I just ask, is this fasting blood level without meds?
