Test

Yes I am afraid it is. If you check this site there are guidelines to what you should aim for. There is lots of information and help here.

Since you were diagnosed in Feb, this is rather a long time to still have a very high blood sugar reading assuming you are on medication and have adjusted your diet.

You either have type 1 diabetes or are still eating/dinking a lot of carbs. What are you eating?

If you can't get your sugars down due to eating low carb, then you need to see the doctor for a type 1 test.

What did you have for breakfast?

Breakfast cereals are typically very high in carbohydrates and many have added sugar. I gave up eating them and now have a one egg omelette with cheese instead. I tried porridge for a while, but found that this also spiked my blood sugar, so gave that up.

Bread is high carb, so should be avoided. Potatoes, rice and pasta are also high carb. I also stopped drinking orange juice as that is full of sugar.

Sounds like i need to cut out bread and biscuits. I must admit i am finding it tough with food. I only have my self to blame.

Take it from me, blaming yourself is not good. That way leads to confusion.
Looking to the future is much better attitude to have.
I have so many food intolerance and a finicky eater, I never thought that I would succeed.
It is not too late to start and get your blood glucose levels to near normal levels.
There is an low carb alternative option to every type of food you are eating now.
You just have to adapt and the thing is, it works.
Knowledge is key to do this. Have a read of the success stories forum and the low carb forum, where you will find all sorts of recipes and ideas.
You cannot ignore this, it will change your life for the good, your future health is the target not the past.
If I can do it, then so can you.

Not having looked at your previous posts. Is this your first day testing and are you keeping a food diary?
You need to start testing to find out what foods effect you.
Pre meal testing and two hours after first bite is the recommended testing regime.
Record every thing you think applicable. This can be used for future appointments with your GP and then seeing trends on how you are doing.

@Darts_lad, You had a good fasting but it is likely that you sugars rose before you started eating. This is quite a normal morning thing for most people and more extreme with diabetics. It is sometime called the dawn effect when you liver gives you a sugar boost to start the day.

If you want to test the effect of your breakfast you need to test just before you eat then two hours after to get regular patterns.

Thank you so much Lamont D. Only started testing yesterday night, i got diagnosed in late February and finding the mood swings and hunger after food difficult at the moment also not sleeping too good and feel really tired all the time. Im also a fussy eater, all the things i like make me feel ill potatoes pasta and rice but apart from chicken thats basically all i like to eat oh and bread ) suffering is the word at the moment )

Well, chicken it is then! (Oh no!)

That was me, years ago, everything with chips or roasties!

You can change!
I had to!

Funny enough, that's what I'm having for my tea, just roast chicken!

If you want to control your diabetes, a change in diet is essential to your future health.

It is the high carbs and high blood glucose levels that is making you will!
Your symptoms are classic, fluctuating blood glucose levels.

It's those sorts of food that are making you hungry, and feeling ill. The chicken is fine, but not the potatoes, pasta, rice and bread. These are all major carbs, and carbs make you hungry soon after eating.

Do you like bacon and eggs, with fried mushrooms, plus a tomato and maybe a sausage? (The 97% meat sausages are low in carb. If so, that is a good idea for breakfast or lunch.

As today is Sunday, I will be having a Sunday roast (lamb today) but only 2 small pieces of roast spuds and very little gravy.

Do you like tinned fish? (salmon, tuna, mackerel etc). That makes a nice lunch with cherry toms and cheese, and plenty of real mayonnaise, or instead of the tinned fish, 2 boiled eggs mashed up in mayo? Or eggs cooked any which way - omelette, scrambled, boiled.

Do try the Lidl high protein rolls if you have a Lidl near you. Sliced in half and toasted with plenty of butter is the way I eat them. Half a roll completely fills me up.
