The SCREAM thread

I had a horrible night last night, with very little sleep. Vicious leg cramps kept waking me up all night, despite my usual magnesium & calcium supplement and my daily Oxo drink. I feel as if I spent most of the night standing on the cold tiles in the bathroom, crying with pain - but quietly, so I didn't wake the other half!
I do suffer from leg cramps quite regularly and in the past I've even tried the old wives' remedies like putting corks in the bed (useless) and wearing pyjamas with a tennis ball sewn into the back (bloody uncomfortable; OK no cramp, but no sleep either!!)
I know exactly what caused it last night; change in the weather = swollen ankles, + sitting working at my desk all afternoon = even more swollen ankles.
I'm amazed it hasn't affected my FBG this morning (5.7).
I have to work again this afternoon, so I'm expecting the same result again tonight, too. :(
I'm hanging this morning. :grumpy: I'm just going to lay my head down on this nice, soft keyboard for a while.............

@debrasue would it help if (if you get the chance that is) you rest with your feet raised in the evening before bed. Or mayb raise your feet on pillow s in bed?

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH *PAUSE FOR BREATH* ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Thank you for listening. x

Must feel so much better now after that. Feel like doing that with the blooming App. Couldn't quote you or even reply yesterday

I DO feel better thanks so much, got really wound up after reading stuff on a Facebook diabetes group page my friend hooked me into. Obviously I left the group quick sharp, such dangerous bad advice being posted from quite influential people in the group. I was flabbergasted, no point trying to reason with idiots though so I had a scream here and ran away, lol.

PoxClin CoolMousse from Boots (£10.99) is alleged to be miraculous in removing the itch. Great reviews and anecdotal recommendations from my friends and family. Not cheap, I agree, but if it works........
I'd be interested to know how you get on with it if you decide to try it.
Good luck!

Going to get hubby to get some tomorrow and see what it does. I can't leave the house until Friday.

I had it as an adult as well, itch under eyelid was the worse thing ever, I can remember standing in bath while hubby poured calamine lotion over me, fingernails cut to quick, I get itching from my meds now but chicken pox wins hands down

Down below and in my mouth are horrendous. Scalp are also really itchy. Agree it's worse than diabetic itch.

@LaurenMoffitt, yes I had internal itching as well, it is opiates that make me itch now, don't know if insulin does it as well as I have been on opiates longer than insulin

Arrrrgggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!
Vicious leg cramps again tonight. I feel at my wits' end! Either I keep my feet on the floor and get enormously swollen, painful ankles, or I put them up and get awful cramps all night.
I've tried electrolytes, massage, drinking lots of water, quinine tablets, chicken broth, salt - nothing seems to help.
The only thing that works is to take some pretty heavy-duty painkillers - oxycodone, an opiate with some muscle relaxant properties - which is not good on a long-term basis. I've been prescribed them since a life-changing accident about 12 years ago, but I try not to take them very often. I've been taking one almost every night for the past week or two, though......

My daughter had chicken pox twice ( not as an adult though) both times when she performing in a dance show, at a big theatre venue :eek: I found Sudocrem absolutely brilliant for soothing the chicken pox and lessening the itchiness, it was a life saver and I would highly recommend it. Hope you feel better very soon.
