I find it equally annoying and amusing that you come onto this forum to tell us what to do and you haven't even done it yourself yet! You are only just now cutting out the occasional candy bar and high cal drinks? I cut out calorific drinks 30 years ago.
BMI is perhaps more useful based on the average person, as it was devised back in the mid 1800's. I like you are categorised as overweight on this scale, and I almost have a six pack, as I have bmi as below:i have a bmi of 27.3 in this photo .. it's a horrible way to measure ones self.. you should go by bodyfat percentage...
People store fat diffeeently ... it may just be that you store more viseral
Fat
Don't let this person annoy you, he believes his photo shows a slim, trim sexy guy, in his dreams maybe.......

As I tell all my weight lifting buddies you can have a 42 inch waist if you have a 52 inch chest and 18 inch arms lolWhat is there to get annoyed about?
I just happened to catch myself early...
And I'm not slim and trim by any means... I just happens to lift wirghts which makes me appear musclar at a higher bodyfat level.. I'm currently 28 percent bodyfat down from 31 percent 10 days ago..
Hopefully I'll get down to 12 percent by summer time lol at trim...I'm 223 at 5'9"
I get a six pack abs around 180. Which is still considered overweight by bmi.
Thanks for the compliment though...
Don't hate me casue I'm beautiful lol...
What do you think intermittent fasting is??? Seriously lol!!!
when I do intermittent fasting I only eat dinner... which is roughly 1000-1200 calories basically the same diet of you figure in the 300-400 calories burned during weight trainjng Lol...
And if you didn't read... I Don't normally drink calories.... I haven't drank calories for years as well..
I just was layed up with an injury and went ballistic with junk food for 2 months ..
my regular diet is protein and vegetables...
I'm kinda in shock that I gained that weight si fast and became prediabetic

My body fat according to my Withings scale is 11.6% (my Fitbit scale says 13.2%). In order to get into the "normal" category, I don't think it is possible for me to ever get into the "normal" range on BMI, as when I train harder with weights my weight goes up obviously and when I occasionally drop into the late 85 kg my body fat % goes up. Long winded way of saying I am in agreement with you that bmi doesn't work for all (I can't imagine loosing circa 6 kg) and that body fat % is a better representation, but bmi at least gets people thinking and can be worked out free.
Hi, just butting in here!
Do you know about hyperinsulinaemia?
Genetics cause obesity and diabetes?
All metabolic conditions including T2 are caused by an imbalance in hormones?
Excess insulin in obesity causes diabetes?
Endocrinology is not just for diabetics?
Low fat foods are full of sugar?
If you control your diet by calorie counting, the choice of diet is critical because it won't make a whole lot of difference if they are the foods you cannot tolerate!
What works for you, won't work for me!
We have to individually tailor our diet/lifestyle to our tastes, background and affordability, probably more!
Butting out now!
To me you seem to enjoy the weights! As I tell all my weight lifting buddies you can have a 42 inch waist if you have a 52 inch chest and 18 inch arms lol
This I also found interesting as another route to insulin resistance / diabetes:Hi, just butting in here!

Agreed .. but also the research on fasting shows that it improves insulin sensitivity..Speaking as a formerly morbidly obese female with recent, rather spectacular, weight loss due to LCHF, sedentary and borderline T2, I'd like to point out this from the research abstract:
Normalisation of both beta cell function and hepatic insulin sensitivity in type 2 diabetes was achieved by dietary energy restriction alone. This was associated with decreased pancreatic and liver triacylglycerol stores. The abnormalities underlying type 2 diabetes are reversible by reducing dietary energy intake.
So, reduce the chub and you'll reverse the T2. It seems very simple to me. IF your T2 is caused by poor eating habits and obesity, you can get it under control by changing bad habits. Of course, it's not that simple as metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance are at play, and not all T2's are overweight, never mind obese. But I completely believe those members who can now eat more carbs and still maintain good blood sugar control and normal weight. They've found the right balance.

Agreed .. but also the research on fasting shows that it improves insulin sensitivity..
I understand some people are totally messed up hormonally those are the outliers... but the majority (those who pig out on junk and aren't active) can totally reverse with this method...
Or even fasting for that matter..
A lot of people don't realize the hormonal cascade that happens with fasting.. including but not limited to
Improved insulin sensitivities
Weight loss
Improved calorie partitioning
Skyrocket in growth hormone production
Muscle soaring effects and so forth

Yes I stated many of those factors earlier.Hi, just butting in here!

I'm pretty sure most people on this board are well aware of all this those.
This discussion was about the research..
I'm pretty sure the people involved in the study all had different reasons for having t2d.
Did you know vitamin deficiency could also be a cause.. as well as lack of sleep and even stress.
