This has NOTHING to do with Diabetes......

Yep... and if you managed it for 80 minutes, he could still score 4 against you.........there I've said it.... 4! Dreadful night that was.

At least you can say you've been to the Camp Nou and seen Messi score 4 against a top team.

Oh wait!! It was Arsenal wasn't it!!

Sorry couldn't resist ;)

that's fine semiphonic....I say it myself sometimes too. :) That's why it's useful to be a Leeds fan first and foremost......you get used to the insults.

Don't worry I'll expect plenty of banter when the season starts :)

Sorry, in all the excitement I forgot to reply to these

What do you hammers think of fat Sam? We have a hate relationship with Bolton because of him!

He is universally disliked (putting it mildly), the man is rude, arrogant and tactically inept. In fairness he did a good job getting us back into the premiership and keeping us there for the first season, but that's about it. Last season we played around 8 games without a striker on the pitch, I don't mean we played someone out of position up front, we actually didn't have anyone up front, we played a 4-6-0 formation (I'll let that sink in for a bit)......
We beat Spurs (happened a lot last season!) to get to the semi final of the League Cup against City. The weekend before the first leg we had an FA Cup game against Forest, BFS played the development squad with a couple of senior players and sat in the stand for the whole game while we lost 5-1. He basically hung the team out to dry. His post match interview was jaw dropping "I'm the manager, I pick the squad, it's got nothing to do with anyone else" etc etc
He's not the man to lead us into the Olympic Stadium and it would seem that he has been told by the chairmen that performances need to improve.

He likes players over 6 feet tall, plays the ball in the air and doesn't like flair. Is that a fair assessment?

He likes tall target men up front yes, and likes to get balls crossed in from the wings, the long ball tag is actually unfair as statistically we were one of the teams that played long ball the least. Flair he certainly doesn't like, he has apparently told players to only shoot when inside the box as statistically you are more likely to score, players have apparently been punished for shooting from outside the box!!

He likes to play dirty and get lots of yellow cards, is that a fair assessment? That's what he was like at Bolton. (I know..pot...kettle...Leeds fan)

I'm not sure if 'likes to play dirty' is a fair assessment, we play defensively and hope to catch teams on the break which is fine against the likes of City, United, Arsenal etc, but not so good against the likes of Norwich, Fulham, Palace etc

I know a lot of fans who haven't renewed their season tickets this season, expect to see a lot of empty seats this season! There needs to be a huge change in the way we play our football, we've always played attacking football and while I agree with @sanguine that this hasn't been very successful in the past, the fans will forgive conceding 10 goals if we score 9...

I also forgot to mention, he's the 13th highest paid manager.......

Well that's good tactics against those top teams, there's nothing wrong with playing defensively. It wasn't like that when he was at Bolton, it was foul after foul, in all areas of the pitch, on and off the ball. Then when any player eventually got a yellow card, he stopped playing dirty. Of course when subs were made, those with yellow cards came off the pitch and they started all over again. The matches v Bolton were not pretty to watch, so I used to count the fouls on either side. There wasn't a lot else to watch...apart from the Anelka 'best ever goal' , which the family still hate me for admiring. There was always plenty of singing though, mostly about el Hadji Diouf.....

Now you know I'm not totally against the role of the 'professional foul' in the game ( !! ), but those games were really awful. I'm glad West Ham haven't stooped to that level......though I'll let you know when I've watched them next season! I have been away from matches for far too long.

lol - I love the 4-6-0 formation! That's so bad! My sons team once played 2-4-4 when they were playing a really weak team and he wanted the wingers to have practice at getting back to defend when necessary. We won 21-2, so it was a good exercise.

Suarez, receives 4 month worldwide ban, from football activities and stadium ban!

Enough?

Don't think so! Should have been 6 months! At least, and also a training ground ban as well!

£66k fine! Not even a weeks wage!

Absolutely not a big enough ban or fine, but it'll be interesting to see what Liverpool do about him

A friend of mine plays the sax, he plays the pub circuit locally now but used to be based in London and used to play for Paul Weller

I used to like listening to Paul Weller, I think the last time I saw him was on BBC 2 on The Jools Holland show?

Stanley Road is one of the best albums of all time, I never tire of listening to it. My friend played sax with him during his Style Council days.

Yes it is I'm watching it, missed the earlier goal. A few black eyes and two American's just crashed into each other:oops:

Petered out a bit towards the end but a good result. It's a shame Portugal are out, but I have a pathological dislike of Cristiano Ronaldo...
