Having them with my breakfast half a tin with eggs mushrooms and sausages, 7.2 carbs per half tin going to give it a few days and check with gluco meter if tolerating them well, tomatoes are acceptable according to diet doctor, although does it include tinned variety as tinned fish is recommended.

I use tinned tomatoes as well in casseroles help make a really nice sauce/gravy

I used to do a full tin of plum tomatoes, which got me to a HbA1c of 41 / 42. I searched all of the supermarkets for the lowest carbs per tin and bought those, from memory it was a brand at either Tesco or Sainsbury. Obviously I ate other things, but I remember these were good for filling the gap.

4WIW this occurred to me too recently. I love toms, especially Mutti plums - I think they (and Cirio, Napolina etc.) are minimal carb-wise and the sugar in a portion (for me 2toms/third of a tin) is negligible. I understand cooked ones spike GI.

We (T2Ds) are all different and while some are OK eating certain fairly sweet veg (like Toms - which are really a fruit) others find them too carby. S9o best to test how your body reacts with a BG meter.
Personally I only take them raw and in small quantities (half a standard sized tomato) or so.

I love tomatoes and eat them in some form nearly every day. Never really thought of testing them specifically as the carb count is usually so small.

There are supposed to be health benefits, especially for men (prostate related) to eating at least some of your tomatoes either cooked or processed eg puréed.

I keep thinking about tinned tomatoes (I like Cirio).

The tomatoes aren't the problem, It's all the bread I need to dunk and scoop... :p
