Travel case help!

LM1985

Newbie
Hello All,

I am a type 1 diabetic and will be travelling abroad for 3 weeks at the end of this month, my flight is 12hrs long and I can't seem to find a travel case big enough and or able to keep my insulin cool for so long. Any ideas out there?

Thank you very much in advance.

Thanks for the tagg @Rachox hope you’re well?

One name comes to mind keeping insulin within recommended temperature either traveling or working somewhere hot.
Frio wallet..
soak it in water, let the gel pack expand, dry off excess moisture & as it evaporates the insulin is as cool as the environment is hot? (Different sizes.) no need for a fridge or bulky cool pack?
I even have a pen sized wallet that can actually fit 2 pens if out for the day working in a sun trap..

Recommend a large Frio Wallet

Hi, I recommend a large Frio wallet to keep the spare cartridges and the basal pen in plus a double one for when you need to carry basal and bolus pens with you. You’d also have a wallet to keep all supplies in for the ten to twenty minutes while you’re refreshing a Frio in cold water.
I also use a cooler backpack, you’ll find a few on the internet. Mine’s a Quechua.

Have a good time abroad.

As my insulin is in my hand luggage I don't worry about it being at room temperature during the flight, but if I'm travelling in a hot country afterwards I am a frio fan.

Hi @LM1985 , I also use a Frio wallet all summer, saves me thinking about whether it'll be hot today or not, and no worries about sun or hot cars.
I use this large one which will fit plenty of pens and penfills, and I usually throw in a handful of needles as well to keep everything in one place.
