TrueTrack smart system

Being recently diagnosed Type2 the Diabetic Nurse issued me with a TrueTrack blood glucose monitoring system. Doing a search on this site for info on the system revealed that "the word TrueTrack is not contained in any post" digging a bit further I managed to find this: http://www.focuspharmacy.com/acatalog/meter_comparison_chart.html

Have any other Members used it and are satisfied with it?

Interesting link, Vitara. However this is a US comparison site ,the numbers are US and the meters are mostly plasma whereas in the UK they are mostly whole blood.

I am resident in the UK.
Although the US site shows the meter as a plasma type the meter I was issued with is for whole blood (according to the box). So I assume all is OK!!

It will be,all meters in UK are calibrated according to UK measures ie mmol/L and usually whole blood.

In the UK all meters report in mmol/l but they vary as to how they report results.Some report whole blood results whilst others adjust to give a plasma calibrated result.
Plasma calibrated results are 11-12% higher than whole blood. results (they all use whole blood, plasma ones just do an internal calculation before reporting the result)

According to this document the TrueTrack gives plasma calibrated results.
(and apparently the same meter is also own-branded for Superdrug.)

Thanks sugarless sue & phoenix for prompt replies.
I have just got round to reading the TrueTrack Owner's Booklet and the Meter results are displayed in PLASMA values.
The plasma glucose ranges for people with diabetes (mmol/L) are listed as:

Before Breakfast 5 - 7.2
Before Lunch/Dinner 5 - 7.2
2 hours after meals Less than 8.9
Bedtime 6.1 - 8.3

Presumably the above ranges are 11% - 12% higher than other figures quoted on this Forum for whole blood readings.

According to the NICE recommendations for type 2

Devices should be calibrated to plasma glucose levels in line with 2006
WHO recommendations.

so I assume that their recommendations ( as often quoted by Cugila) are based upon this.

The NICE 2009 guideline Bg level figures for a T2 are as follows:
Fasting (waking).....................between 4 - 7 mmol/l.
2 hrs after meals.....................no more than 8.5 mmol/l.

In practice, people have different meters and most don't realise there is a difference. I myself use a plasma calibrated one for everyday (Ultra smart) but sometimes use an accucheck compact(whole blood) for running and will quote from either without specifying the difference. (and the difference between the 2 is actually less than 12%... I'll sometimes double check with the other meter when I get a surprise result).

The numbers in mmol/l are on the inside of the front cover of the TrueTrack smart system "Owner's Booklet".

The website doesn't show those numbers and I have no idea why they quote them because they are wrong ! The numbers Phoenix quoted are the correct ones to which you must add 11% when using your meter. so you need to amend them.
