I've heard that turmeric (the food) is good as an anti inflamatory. My son adds turmeric to his diet for suspected Crohns. No idea whether it would do any good but as a food additive wouldn't do any harm.

Shots? Injections????

I was wondering about that - turmeric is very definitely on the shelf of herbs and spices by the cooker - and never gets dusty - but it is very definitely something to put in the pan not directly into the body.

I have problems losing weight despite following a low carb diet, so about ten days ago I decided that if I increased the walking I did it may help in weight loss. So for three consecutive days I walked 3.1/2 miles per day. On the fourth day I was in agony, pains in my back, legs, thighs, and even my wrist. I know that I have arthritis but it's never hit me so hard before. For a long time I've taken turmeric capsules to help with the arthritis, however about a fortnight ago I ran out of them. And I wonder if this has been a contributory factor. So today I've taken about eight capsules of turmeric with black pepper, and the pain appears to have lessened. After reading your post I decided to test my blood glucose levels, this is approximately three hours after eating, and it was 6.6, (I am pre-diabetic and not on any medication) so the turmeric hadn't sent up my levels.

Turmeric has been used in India as a medicine for centuries, and it is known to reduce inflammation in the body. You could give it a try.

Hi. Not related to diabetes specifically, but be careful where you source your turmeric (curcumin) from as studies have shown that some of it could be contaminated with lead (of which there is no safe amount for the body - It´s basically a neurotoxin).

I´m certainly wondering about my curcumin, black pepper, coconut milk coffees. Though unless I can get the curcumin lab tested, how can I know for sure?

I guess there´s so much contamination out there you can´t avoid it. Still, it´s annoying to think something which I considered healthy could actually be damaging my body instead.

I think it may have anti inflammatory properties but can also thin your blood - my OH is on Warfarin and has been warned not to take it.

I don't think it is the turmeric ,actually my blood glucose raises a lot when I exercise instead of lowering.. I think some people have a very overactive liver producing more and more blood glucose while using muscles... , In my case it could be due to when I was pregnant I didn't keep any food in my stomach for 4-6 months of which I didn't make number 2 for 3 months, so I lived only from my own body and the glucose which wen't into my veins. My mother had an almost as severely a pregnancy with me ( but without glucose suplement ) , and children inside a starving mother are much more prone to become diabetic when they are grown up, could be because their liver has learned to be overactive in the womb

it was egg and avacado wrap and an apple 2hours later. checked blood 4 hours after so was shocked so high
The wrap being bread or pastry? And then an apple? Pastry in any amount will lift my BG from 5 something to over 11 on its own. And then you may not be able to tolerate fructose in the apple. Just because the media say apples are "healthy" doesn't mean it's good for you.
