Hi again, I was on humilin M3 twice a day for years, it is rough when the problems start kicking in, I used to drink alot and smoke, but stopped them both over nearly couple years ago, don't drink coffee now low carb and my control is still rubbish compared to a lot of peoples standards, constantly have sugars in 20s etc sometimes the insulin works as it should sometimes it doesn't, but decided iam going to try before I die, it can be frustrating when you think what's the point of trying if it's already too late or it's not going to make a difference but there is, I've had them eye jabs at first I was scared, There is loads of treatments out there, new technology coming along, iam living day by day, looking at patterns, what food does what etc. I hope you do try, so many even non diabetics give up hope while there still alive and it's a shame, as before I don't work, drive etc, but I've managed to quit drinking smoking, do more things with a little more confidence,. Hope you do find that bit of strength to lift yourself up again, it can be done.

Hello @S1994 Thanks for replying.

Could you try re-connecting with your Diabetes team ? They can look at other insulin options for you, if you tell them how you've been managing they will help you but you need to ask for help to get back on the radar with them, it's never too late to take back control.

I would echo this. You have come on this forum for advice @S1994 and my advice is that the only course of action is to re-engage with the resources the NHS has on offer. A starting point would probably be the diabetic nurse at your GP surgery.

Hi Bud! Johnny here. I know exactly how you feel because I've had Type 1 for 62 years now. I'm 78 now and I do have a number of complications as a result of it; and Leukaemia as well. All I can say is that you really have to try and keep on top of it as best you can and do plenty of blood tests and eat reasonably sensibly. People don't realise how difficult and depressing it is sometimes -particularly when your bloods are up and down like a yo yo. I've had more hypos in my life when I've been unconscious than I care to mention and been saved many times by my ever faithful wife. There have been improvements over the years that's for sure because when I was diagnosed in 1960 there was no such thing as a home blood test meter. We just had urine tests in tablet form in a test tube. Not the best way to keep control that's for sure. I've been thinking of an insulin pump for a while now but my diabetic quack said I'm too old. That could help you I'm sure.
We've all just got to keep going because life really is worth living. I was in a ketoacidosis coma for 3 months when first diagnosed 1960; and those guys in hospital saved my life which I'm truly thankful for. Don't give up Bud- try and have fun- that's what life is all about All the best- Johnny

So sorry to hear how low you feel, I can relate it's a never ending battle. Have you thought about a Dexcom with one of the semi closed loop pumps? I have both and they can take a lot of the work out of your diabetes.
