Hello, this is my first ever post.. and I am a type one diabetic with really high sugars at 30.5 I have had some correction doses to bring them down but seems still rising.... drinking plenty of water and still not helping. Any advice? I'm 24 and been diabetic for 20 years

Phone for the paramedics...

I second what @Tipetoo says, it’s very important to get medical help as you are at risk of DKA.

... and do it NOW. You'll be wasting a lot more than time. GET ON WITH IT

If you are in the UK ring the NHS Advice line on 111 (at the very least). A&E are there for a reason, use the service!

Are you able to check for ketones? Have you changed insulin vials and checked injection sites? (If you're on a pump then you can go into DKA even more quickly than a basal/bolus person so you should really be ringing 111 now.

Could one of the mods maybe move this thread to the T1 forum????

Why is a pump user at a higher risk?

My understanding is that because they don't have any basal in their system they can run out of insulin much more easily eg if the pump's connection goes wrong. (Not a pump user myself, so I may have misunderstood what I've read from pump users.)

Oh okay thanks for the explanation
