Type 1s: What Is/was Your Blood Sugar This Evening And This Morning ?

4.5 at bedtime , 5.5 mmol on waking. Can't complain.

8.4 PM and 11.1 AM, first day switching from Lantus to Levemir... Some adjustments will be required!

May I ask why are you switching from Lantus to Levemir please?

Quite a few reasons to be honest. I'm hoping that adjustments to my basal rate will take effect quicker when my hormones play up or I decide to do tons of exercise, after ~14 years I'm sick of my legs feeling like a bee has stung them every night and I want to split my dose to allow more basal in the day and also because the Lantus was wearing off earlier and earlier as I lose weight and decrease my dose. Finally, I just wanted to try it and see if I found it better than Lantus!

Thanks for your reply. Over here in Malta we do not have Levemir. In my opinion Lantus is not helping with my fasting AM blood tests. I know somebody who lives abroad and uses Levemir with very good fasting results.

It should be possible to get good fasting results with Lantus. It may need adjusting. If you post something in the T1 forum I'm sure people will be able to advise you

Went to bed at 7.0 with IOB. Woke up at 4.3 with a nice flat line overnight, rudely interrupted by a couple of compression dips in the early hours. I've noted that the Dexcom seems to be more susceptible to compression lows than the Libre sensor, and I suspect this is down to the shape of the sensor/trransmitter combination.

5.5 before bed..5.4 @ 06:00, taken to eating 3 jelly beans after my bed time Lantus..and so far so good

Finally got the new Levemir basal sorted. Shocked at how much extra I need compared to Lantus!

Yes, Lantus does NOT work for everyone. It is NOT always possible to get good FBG with it. In quite a lot of people it has almost no effect at all at low doses, but at an effective dose causes night time hypos. In my case, it was like taking no basal at all at any dose below 20 units, but at 20 units, it gave me cracking hypos. After demonstrating that a few times to my endo, we discussed Levemir, but I decided that I was not happy to move to 5 (+ correction doses) jabs a day, and changed to a pump, which solved my problem immediately.
