Type 1s: What Is/was Your Blood Sugar This Evening And This Morning ?

I'm 13.9 now. Complications soon :(

If you are type 1, your hbA1c only has an 11% correlation with complications. Don't sweat the odd high. Counteract its effects by exercising regularly to reduce insulin resistance. Insulin resistance plays a much bigger role in complications than bs does.

It has been a while!

5.6 going to bed, 6.9 waking.

Better than I was expecting because strawberries & cream late in the evening have been doing weird things to my blood sugar overnight the last few days. It's ok, I've finished all the cream now (because clearly that's the best way to resolve it lol).

Where did you get that titbit from?

6.2 on getting up, 7.2 on going to bed.

Where did you get that titbit from?

World Journal of Diabetes 2014 June 15; 5(3):282-287, Why do some patients with type 1 diabetes live so long?

I'm sure they didn't mean to imply by the title that they rather wish we didn't!

"Of 400 type 1 patients who survived for fifty years with diabetes, the mean HbA1c was 7.6%(+/-1.4), with some of these patients having HbA1c as high as 8.5-9%. None had an HbA1c below 7%."

And that's the real life proven effect, not a theoretical effect of HbA1c. The "None...." may be psychologically challenging for us, but that's why it probably deserves a bit of attention.

For people who don't want to read the whole scientific paper,
the significant clinical factors are in Table 2 just before the conclusion. Very heartening study. Nice to see something positive about longevity instead of all doom and gloom. And most of the factors are highly 'manageable.' You don't need to be super-diabetic to pull it off!

morning !!!:)
2.9 at 11pm ( 20 carbs) 5.9 at 11:30pm

5.2 at 7:20AM

Hmmm.. 4.3 going to bed, 7.3 waking. Maybe it wasn't the cream (too easy), I did eat dinner really late. But I think there is some sort of hormonal death match going on at the moment and the insulin is NOT winning! Boo irregular, unpredictable lady times, unhelpful.

13.2 at midnight ( 1.7u correction )
8.6 at 2am set alarm to test 0.1u correction )
3.3 at 7:55am  oops -- think the hypo made me a bit drowsy

Great night for proving a flat line. Went to bed at 7.4 and awoke at 7.1 - would have preferred lower levels, but that works for me!

9.9 before bed 10 on waking, i believe this proves my basal rate is correct, just need to work on getting my figures down with correction dose.
