Hi andy i was 49 when diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago i have just gone on the omnipod pump after being on injections welcome to the thread ,hope you get your freestyle libre it certainly does help although not always accurate it does give you trends like when bloods are rising or fallingJust signed up to join this chat, just curious to find out what ages people are, when they got type 1 and how they’re managing?
I’ll start off, i’m currently 18 and had type 1 diabetes since age of 5. I’m on the pump but pushing to get the freestyle libre as it’ll benefit me massively!
I presume they don't include tips as part of your wages?15 people on weekends, around 5-6 of us on a weekday. If I got £30 from a table, I’ll be getting a few pence.

Hi and welcome! I was 23, diagnosed 21 years ago. Currently using Omnipod pump and Dexcom G6 CGM, which I’ve unofficially linked together to create a pretty good artificial pancreas system.Just signed up to join this chat, just curious to find out what ages people are, when they got type 1 and how they’re managing?

Had type 1 for 37 years now diagnosed at 20 years old. Been on a pump for just under a year and have had a Libre for 18 months. Still get highs and lows, that will never change.
Those diagnosed recently are sooooo lucky (obviously not being diagnosed) but you guys have so much technology to help you out now. In my day when diagnosed, there were no blood testing, just pee on a stick, no pumps no Libre. How we survived in the 80's and early 90's I will never know

It’s great. And yes, very lucky here in Wales. Libre wasn’t working accurately for me so I got an upgrade a couple of months ago. Where are you based?Nice! And are you getting the sensors via prescription?
There is a Dexcom app for the watch which iuse for the alarms, and I control my pump through Loop, the artificial pancreas app, which you have to build yourself using open source code to suit your hardware. Check out Loopdocs.org for info on the system! You can use it with Libre if you get a little add-on transmitter.I also see your using the iwatch 3, i've got my apple watch but what apps do you use in conjuction with your pump and sensor?
Hi @smc4761 i had to do the pod change again as i must of done something wrong as numbers started rising very quickly but all good now its like starting all over again but without the injections and i will persevere thankyou xxHi @karen8967 how are you enjoying the pump. It will take a wee while for you to get your dosages right just persevere with it. I remember changing my Medtronic pod the first time, it took ages. Now I can change this in under 3 minutes.

Hello @andyginn32 Welcome to the forums and especially to this thread.
Me? Started off as misdiagnosed T2 4 years ago which was changed to LADA, (slow onset T1 for us older ones!) 2 years ago. Now in my mid-50s.
I did have to giggle at Young Vampire today - for some reason neither of us were quite with it this morning, but it wasn't me who stopped themselves just before injecting into the finger! I did remark I didn't think that wouldn't quite work, somehow, but revenge was exacted as the bloods diary got thrown at me (well, onto the table in front of me as I was giggling) to record the numbers.
For the new to the thread souls - Young Vampire is a student with T1 whom I support on a daily basis as learning disabilities prevent YV being independent about all the diabetes stuff. Utterly fabulous at the routine, brilliant at making sure I have my "Japes' Meds Bag" with me, often won't move on until I've done my checks/injections, but will never be able to interpret own numbers and act accordingly. Strangely, when I show my number at breaktime to ask if I need a snack, the response is never wrong. There is always much glee and delight at refusing to let me have my snack. Young Vampire? Oh, always licks fingers after a blood test even when I dutifully offer the tissue.
