But aye, tomorrow I'm going to post a pic of my bowl of porridge me thinks, the whole 300ml of it in factI really should start a thread in the diet section showing how carefully chosen complex carbs can work for a T1d, this is a kind of proof the old burn more calories than you consume to lose weight and vice versa rings true, a good time to do it too as I'm looking to gain a couple of kg right now so have upped carbs and insulin to allow this, I was mortified to find myself at 79kg at clinic, losing that extra kg hurt
Tbh with you all, that's why I am not on the forum so much, it has become be so anti, against the professionals, diets, statins, "it's no one's fault if they have certain medical conditions" it's the industry, it's the food manufactures etc , and I find it so sad and depressing at times, plus my mood is not always in a good place.
@Robinredbreast I might have been a bit off with people in some of my replies but it wasn't intended. I agree moods are hardTbh with you all, that's why I am not on the forum so much, it has become be so anti, against the professionals, diets, statins, "it's no one's fault if they have certain medical conditions" it's the industry, it's the food manufactures etc , and I find it so sad and depressing at times, plus my mood is not always in a good place.
Yes use that junction once a week at least but fortunately I was on my way out of the city yesterday instead of on the Northbound. They were down to 7 with repeated corrections but shot back up after my delayed brunch according to Libre.
I'll get accused of 'typeism' again but I come on here just to talk to other T1s, other human pin cushions such as myself, and to see that it's not just me who has the ups and downs, trials and tribulations and all that jazz, I'm glad I found the place last October whilst researching who was doing what in regards to the Libre roll out as it's enlightening as in "you are not alone" , I just tend to populate this thread these days and the exercise one but having already read the article I've fat shamed someone by commenting it now seems, which is odd as the article is about obesity and weightloss.Tbh with you all, that's why I am not on the forum so much, it has become be so anti, against the professionals, diets, statins, "it's no one's fault if they have certain medical conditions" it's the industry, it's the food manufactures etc , and I find it so sad and depressing at times, plus my mood is not always in a good place.
Public Health England said excess calories were the root cause of obesity and tackling the issue was a priority.
I almost feel that porridge deserves it's own dedicated thread it pops up so often. I'm impressed you get through 60g/300ml @kev-w you must have some decent sized bowls.
I think I'll have a bowl tomorrow morning.
@Cumberland ....have been doing my detective work and can see roughly where you are now....is the local Toby Carvery your usual haunt for magic yorkies.....Whereabouts do you live?
Ew - no thanks.
If I wanted to eat something with the texture of wallpaper paste I'd eat wallpaper paste!
I think porridge is an acquired taste/texture that I have never acquired.
But I'd happily do the type 1 pizza eating initiation ritual (as long as I can eat a home made, thin crust, vegetarian pizza).

In total agreement. My mother used to make me eat porridge when I was a LOT younger, 45 years ago...you can imamgine what it was like, no sweeteners and not the best quality porridge oats. Wallpaper paste would have probably tasted better lolEw - no thanks.

It’s my birthday today, the last year of my 60s begins, so a few days ahead of cake, vino, and all the indulgence I fancy. Just to give the Novoslow due warning
I’m a fan of both as long as it’s a thin crust put your own topping on pizza - Toms, oregano, anchovy, mushroom, sliced courgette, a smattering of parmesan; and proper unrefined big flake Scottish porridge!
My old dear would leave the uneaten porridge in the pan for the day after, mixing fresh oats into it every couple of daysIn total agreement.
