Type 1'stars R Us

Morning everyone,
Hope you've all been keeping well while I've been away. I had a magic time and some magically high numbers but curiously I lost 1.5k even though I was eating some amazing food.

Back to another reality now. Have a great Friday

Yeah sorry all.

Bit like a bad smell in a space suite, not easy to get rid of ;)

Those green "crop circles" look like they are from the CGI Captain Scarlet that appeared a couple of years ago, which I really did not warm to.

So who remembers:

Fireball XL5
Supercar
Joe 90
Stingray
Space 1999
Terra Hawks

There was also The Adventures Of Twizzle, Torchy The Battery Boy, Crossroads To Crime & Four Feather Falls his first forays into puppet shows, but I'm not sure anyone is old enough to remember them.
Just about

It was all I could find without fiddling about taking a screenshot from the Blu Rays :p
The return of Thunderbirds (that I think is still airing) isn't a patch on the original either.

Don't forget The Secret Service as the crossover series between puppetry and live action ;)
Space: 1999 and The Protectors are on my list of still to watch.

Yep, there was a resurgence for Anderson's series in the 90s in the UK when I was growing up. Content regulators appeared to be much more lenient in the 60s as they got away with including a lot in kids shows you would never see the like of now. That may say more about the world now as opposed to then though.

They are all available in HD now including his later work aimed at adults. UFO was a treat to discover when it was remastered a few years ago.

And all five crewmen named after the Mercury astronauts :)

You’re talking about the things my children watched . Back in the day it was Dan Dare, Desperate Dan and Biggles

Morning everyone, love the stories of the golden oldies, I remember Stingray with Troy Tempest ( what a fab name:)) and the lovely Marina, so many happy memories watching these programmes :joyful:

Nearly forgot................. I went to bed on a 5.0 and awoke on 7.2

Wishing you all a Happy Friday :happy:

Welcome back mate

Remember a few of already mentioned children’s tv shows.
Not quite so animated, but very close.......Buster Crabbe as Flash Gordon, every morning during the school holidays along with Wacky Races and Dastradly and Mutley.

BTW....good morning all. Cough is still here, admittedly not so bad BUT still here.
Basal adjustment seemed to have worked last night. 5s and 6s straight thru. 4.6 at the moment, maybe a slight tweak to the bolus wizard for the morning, we shall see

Good to see the Medtrum is working for you @helensaramay, fingers crossed the 1 month trial will be good for you excercise wise etc :)

As you know @Knikki these are the ones I remember watching, I use to have a Dinky toy Space 1999 Eagle transporter, where the transport 'container' could be deposited and left. I wonder how much they are going for on flea bay now?.........mine was well used so wouldn't be worth much (if I still had it:().

@therower Flash Gordon and Wacky Racers, Yeah!

One of many photos from this week.IMG_03443.jpg

Lovely photo. If I’d have known you was at Skegness I could have popped over.:):):)

When I spin at lunchtime, I am hostage to what is in the fridge when it comes to lunch. As the week progresses, the choice becomes less and, by Friday, lunch can be a tad "experimental".
So, I was very chuffed with today's warm salad of green beans, fennel, tomato, spinach and feta with an olive oil and balsamic dressing.
I have no idea what I am going to make out of one golden beetroot, two parsnips, a third if a tin of water chestnuts and half a bulb of fennel for tonight though even if I add onions, ginger, chilli and a cupboard full of spices.

Soup for tea tonight???? Beetroot, parsnip and water chestnut soup WINNER

Sweet pink spicy flavourful soup?

@helensaramay here in Leeds children go back on Monday then off again for Easter. Some years ago when I was still working in a primary Leeds foxed their holidays to first 2 weeks in April regardless of Easter. It was very useful some years for cheaper holidays. The only renegades to this being Academies and Catholic schools.
Summer holiday TV- Daktari, Robinson Crusoe, White horses, Casey Jones. EVERY YEAR!

I loved Daktari and Clarence the Cross eyed lion and definitely White Horses too, I remember the theme tune. I loved The Double Decker's, Follyfoot Farm, The Singing Ringing Tree, weird, a bit scary, but fascinating. Tom and Jerry were my favourite cartoon, also along with the Flintstones, The Jetsons, The Banana Splits, my favourite was the dog. Top of the pops, Doctor Who, Whacky Races, so many :) :joyful:

"waves feebly" Made it!

Deeply impressed with my guesstimate for a post-meal insulin dose as I forgot (for the first time in 14 months!) to liberate it from the lockable cupboard it lives in during the working day if it's not still in the Japes' Meds Bag which all students know about. I'm just reviving myself with a celebratory evening meal then might have enough energy for a little stroll to the supermarket for enough supplies to tide me over until the Big Shopping Day on either Monday or Wednesday.
