Hi everyone, I'm interested to know what a "flatter profile" actually means in figures. What sort of variation is everyone trying for?

Hi Sue, a flat profile for me is simply a straight line which doesn't spike, so being around say 5.5 mmol/l and staying thereabouts for a good few hours. I see spikes occur with carbs, exercise, hormones, heat, stress etc so literally being awake. The only time I can achieve a truly flat profile is when I'm asleep.

Me too, and not even always when I’m asleep. Correction doses any time.

:) Or sitting still, moving very little :) isn't it like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow??

But anyway morning y'all, 4.6 and .5u less for breakfast bolus, I'm still a roof rack short of normality so will need to do my commute with the ladders on my shoulder still :) and I'm sure my left arm has stretched from carrying the bucket but you don't need the confessions of a window cleaner with your breakfasts.... :p

Hello @Fairygodmother i should of added that not always when i’m asleep either.. last nights libre..

I’m less relaxed now about the numbers than I was before the days of tech that told me what they were: I used to rely on physical signals. Sometimes I wonder whether our lives have been been improved or constrained by all the number watching.

:) a very good point, 2 & 3 injections a day and testing once a day with a fair degree of inaccuracy but a lot less mental arithmetic.

Those halcyon days :p

Know what you mean. Since getting this Libre, Etch A Sketch thing I am always checking and now I am getting obsest with numbers, plus I am blaming @Mel dCP for now getting me obsest with MySugr App :hilarious: :wacky:

Have also said this in the past. It becomes a little obsessive and I become a bit of a bore!

So, after a fantastic Libre accuracy for 10 days, and I mean bang on accurate. It then went to pot, and the last 4 days were whacky! As I’d lost all faith in it I didn’t cover during my hour swim session yesterday to encourage it to come off. Did it heck! Still had a struggle this morning it was stuck fast. The last one departed company with my arm after 5 days. You couldn’t make it up.
It looks a mess and am presently putting on the steroid cream. When I don’t have one on, I think, oh is it worth it. But it so is when wearing it. I have definitely picked up the allergy to it though. Which is a little heartbreaking.

When I got Freestyle Libre I became quite obsessed with it for at least the first 3 months. Seem to be past the worst now.

But, as a result of all that extra data I have made quite a few changes that I feel have massively improved my control. I now have to start reintegrating with society, though, and hope the better control can survive.

Best for what or who? It's not the best if your activity levels vary greatly day to day!

Aye, there is that, but then the consultant is aware of my exercise regime and he say 'go for it' so we'll see :) (written with a blood of 3.5 as I've dropped again with .5u less)

I'm expecting to have to eat more on training days and bolus more on rest days, much as I do now but without the Lantus peaks coming at varying times in the afternoon/evening and the other days when it seems to be working at 2/3rds strength, as I say, if I can't better what I'm doing now I'll revert back :)

I can empathise with this :)
