@Knikki @db89 I'm trying the change seeking a flatter and consistent baseline than I get from Lantus as it seems to do different things day to day, I'll not know unless I try.....

Fair enough, my reason for being intrigued is that I have requested recently to switch the other way after much thought about it (Lantus to Levemir). I like the idea of a consistent flatter profile that Tresiba offers but what swung it in my head was the prospect of being able to make more responsive changes with Levemir as well as the way I take Lantus now already suits Levemir's profile (12h split). Hopefully your change gives you what you're after from it :)

Yep that works rather well and I also pack cucumber sandwiches and lashings of ginger ale :D

After yesterday's "interesting" afternoon all night I stayed round the mid 4 :woot: woke up, mid 4 stuff face with enough breaky to send a low carber running for the pitchfork and burning torches now low 5.

Today is going to be good :)

hello everyone. Back from a week camping with the kids in dorset.

Went rockpooling in lulworth cove and caught our very first brown crab. Normally i only get green ones.

had a very naughty 27.5 BG one night after drinking and grazing way too much. but brought it it back down again within 5 hours

this morning woke on a 6.1 @ 8am pretty much stable through the night from a 5.7 evening before.

have a nice day

Ive recently changed to tresiba kev and have found it to give me a well flatter baseline .i found with lantus i was having hypos throughout the night then it would tail off about 5pm the next day so not lasting 24 hours hope the tresiba works for you

I changed over to tresiba a few months ago and get a much flatter line compared to Lantus. It took a while to get the dosage sorted but I find it much better

woke around 4am at 4.3 so had a couple of dextrose tabs but woke late at 7.45 with the Libre saying low, this has happened a couple of times recently and I'm sulking now as I'd got rid of night-time hypos and I'm quite unimpressed they've returned, no diet, insulin or method change other than the porridge type and that's after I get up so won't affect the next nights basal.

Hi Kev - just checking are you taking the reading from the libre or your meter when you go low during the night ? My libre often reports a low which when checked against my meter isn't, i've found if I lie on my sensor it seems to register lower than it is. Otherwise as others have said get yourself onto Tresiba as it's a much better basal, flatter, longer, better :)

Afternoon everyone. Yesterday I destabilised my stable regime. The cost of keeping it so stable had been too high.

So I need a new plan, which will also last a few weeks and then be discarded. I switched from Lantus to Levemir recently, and I've pretty happy with it. I can't quite handle the idea of Tresiba, it seems to demand a commitment to stability that I don't feel I can give it. But it does seem to work well for a lot of people, which is good.

I find Levemir better than Lantus too, Lantus came in too strong after about 5 hours.
Having said that, nasty hypo last night and now aches, tiredness, sore throat and highs. Must be a summer bug thingy. Feeling sorry for myself ☹️

Been a strange kind of a day. Found a funny looking hole in my left calf this morning, no redness or itching, no swelling or warmth, so I’m certain it’s not a bit. Hurts in a “deep” kind of a way, like I’d been stabbed with something the size of a skewer. Rang the GP surgery for advice from the DSN, and she said to come straight in so she could look at it, really couldn’t fault them. Anyway, she said it was really odd too, but it looks clean and should heal. Obviously I’m to keep a close eye on it, and if it grows or misbehavies in any way to go straight back. When she asked about my recent levels, I gave her a MySugr printout from the last fortnight to have a look at, that I’d handily just happened to have stashed about my person ;) She reckons I’ll definitely get approved for a pump, as none of the basals will give me the flexibility I need without massively increasing the chance of night hypos.

Sort of good news, had another hypo, so I guess that means the IR is coming to an end. Cue three to six days of lows, while a reduced dose of poxing Tresiba takes effect. :banghead:

Do you guys wear anything identifying you as a diabetic? I've just bought a rubber wrist band that says T1 diabetic (kids size - tiny wrists ) as I'm attempting to start a bit of running and will be out alone mostly. It will only be for then though I should think- not allowed anything on the lower arms at work.
In related news I can hardly walk after my first run in a very long time on Saturday reduces my insulin requirements by an incredible amount though!

I’ve got purple dog tags with all my health info on, which I alternate with a leather wrist cuff I made with a solid silver and gold plaque. All depends on the outfit!

Yes I have that set up too. Lots of different coloured bands. Kids size for me too!

Think I had the right idea with the ID band... tonight's run dropped me from 11 to 5 with a straight down arrow and still dropping... haven't got any IOB either - glad I didn't have any!

Having spoken to the consultant I've been lucky to see for a long time about what I wanted, what I thought and what to do, his suggestion was Tresiba, I did ask about the flexibility of Levemeir (although a good friends boy uses it and has a lot higher hba1c than me) but the Dr said to try Tresiba first as he says it's the best basal :)

I worry about change and exercise, swimming more than weights but am prepared to work round which ever swerve balls come my way if I can, and if I feel I'm benefitting from the change.

Just the hurdle of the GPs to clear now as the script change has been faxed to them but there was no script to collect at tea time but that's par for the course.at the doctors.

Edit, @Juicyj yes I've had that happen when I've slept on it but this time my fingerstick said 2.6 :(

I have a tattoo on the right wrist.
