I had a real easy change over on mine. My dietitian told me to cut my basal by 10%. Was on 22 units of Lantus before. After 3-4 weeks of messing around with it I am now on 14 units of Tresiba. Most of the time it is spot on BUT every now again, mainly on days ending in "Y" it is like I have only injecting half the dose! BUT we are all aware of that with T1D :)

@kev-w mention earlier about dropping thing is I split my Mantus so 11 at night 9 in the morning so do I combine the two which makes 20 (yes I did you my hands to count that up) or drop from the 11 :writer:

But as I have been round the 2.8 for the last week or so of a night time, I'm going to experiment with dropping it down to 9 as a starting point.

I mean, what could possibly go wrong? ;):smug:

I would say to be dropping it from the 20 as that is what your 24hr basal is. Possibly wouldn't be going down to 9 from 20 BUT that is just me

@Knikki I'd have to agree with @porl I think, mine works out around a 1/3rd reduction and I'd 'guess' just under half to be too little, but then I've never split basals so worth asking the clinic maybe?

OK well it will take at least 4 - 5 days for this thing to kick in so I will start by dropping to 18 as a starting point.

If by the weekend the air on here is still blue then it has not worked and I 'm running higher than I want.

If however I have consumed my own body weight in Jelly Babies and Jaffa Cakes you'll know I have dropped it too much. ;)

@kev-w You're right I will drop my DSN an email and see if I get a reply :)

When I started Tresiba they advised me to take my total Lantus dose minus a couple of units that evening - I was splitting 36u morning and night before, as it takes it a day or two to build up to full strength. So I took 34u that night, and it worked ok.

Hi all, I have to share some good news. Remember back in June, I applied for a job very near me, but because I was in hospital I thought that was it. So I recently re-applied online and emailed my application and 20 minutes ago I received a phone call from the same lady I had the telephone interview with in June. I explained what happened and they are still interested in me, so she will call back on Thursday or Friday, could this be the start of a new job, possibly next week ? I have everything crossed X

It seems to be a very personal thing - I went from 46 (I think?) on Levemir to currently 21 on Tresiba. If it works for you brilliant, don't be afraid tospend lots of time tweaking, but equally if it isn't working don't let them keep pushing it - the rigidity and total lack of flexibility mean that it really doesn't work for everyone.

Good luck! :)

Great news robs everything crossed for you xx

Good. How did your meeting go?

It's cold here, because it's only the end of August I'm still trying to get some vitamin D, so I rolled up my sleeves, to get some sunlight on my forearms, and was thinking about putting a hat on, because it's cold enough for one.

I have some homework to do lol

It’s been pleasant here

Crossing everything Robs <3

Been painting outside walls, hefting plant pots, ladders and stuff around, so unsurprisingly had a bit of a low so I actually ate some regular plain chocolate (self-discipline and dextrose tabs went out the window) left over from Christmas. Ych y fi, as we say here in Wales :hungover::grumpy::yuck: Can’t believe how much my tastes have changed since going low carb. Managed to keep it in range the rest of the day, so I’m happy.

Not eating much this evening, to see if this rise I’ve been having late evening is a protein issue or a basal issue. Maybe some mushrooms fried in butter.

Hope all goes well @robs

Steady day with the shugs - well for most of the day.

New libre sensor and I am in the annoying inaccurate 24hour phase.

Evening started with a low at 2.3. Not had the shakes like this for a while. May well have over-treated it. Didn’t think twice at the time.

Well the xDrip alarms went off last night twice for being too low, go them set to go off at 2.8, complete and utter butt monkies after yesterday fighting to get everythig down last night it surfs along the bottom of the pond ~sigh~:watching:

Anyway woke up with a 4.8 and cruising at a 6.4 expecting spike in about 2 hours.:shifty:

Tonight Matthew I am going to be trying Tresiba :joyful:

Yes after nearly 20 years on Lantus I am moving to Tresiba, expect it will be an interesting week as this stuff last longer and takes more time for dose change to effect but at least I will be back to do 1 evening shot instead of splitting Lantus like I do now.

Should be fun and expect more ranting and cursing :cat:;):)

@kev-w Good luck with the "Quest For The Libre" where armed with only an excel spread sheet, bucket and sponge our plucky hero goes into battle against the suits, good luck, sir we salute you.

Think I need a coffee :bag:

When I left hospital I was put on Tresiba,( was on Levemir) MY BS is so much better, not 100% as I have made slip up's with miscalculating. I stayed on the 10 units, but last week my diabetes Dr said I am a little too low in the morning, so to take 9 units, if that doesn't work, then to go down to 8. I had no trouble with Tresiba, even though I was hardly eating anything in the beginning and I take it in the morning now. Good luck

Do you apply it 12-24 hours before activating? A “pre-soak” minimises that inaccurate 24...
