Running my first ever 10k today, been waking every week in target and today 12.7 :banghead: where did that come from !!

Good luck and well done on taking on the event in the first place. Now i would be lucky if I could run 10 metres, and yet i used to be a good distance runner many many years ago.

Let us know how you got on with your time your BG before and after run

Had a fairly low BG before dinner last night 3.9, couple of jelly beans to keep me going before dinner arrived from chippy. Black pudding and chips ( I know but it is delish and it is my weekly treat). As my BG was so low and the meal would have been fairly high in fat, had dinner first then bolused. I took 3/4 of my anticipated dose and would take the rest later.

OOOOOps got too engrossed watching some music DVD's and about 3 hours later tested again, triple OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOps. Lets just say my reading was ever so slightly high. Dosed up on the remaining insulin I should have taken a few hours earlier, plus a correction and this morning at 9 am sitting at a 4.3.

Now my question here is. Monday to Friday I have my Levemir at 7am and 10pm. a gap of 9 hours. On many occasions my BG increases overnight so at 7am my BG could have increased by 3 or 4 units, eg bed at 6.5 and wake up to 10.5

At weekends I have my Levemir at 9am and still take my evening Levemir at 10pm. a gap of 11 hours. Checking back I have noticed that my wake up BG at 9am is usually much better, less of a rise than night before BG, than it is during the week. maybe only rising slightly overnight or in some cases even going lower.

Now is that just a coincidence. Or could I start taking my weekdays Levemir at 8pm thus making it the same number of hours between Levemir doses as I have at weekend eg 11 hours instead of 9

Does that make sense????

Good morning y'all, a waking 6.1 today, had wandered up to 9 in my sleep but dropped back so all's good, going swimming with child in a couple of hours and have a banana sat winking at me in the kitchen each time I pass by :)

My mate mentioned cycling this aft perhaps, so we'll see, if not then to mums for probably the final tip run and the rabbit needs cleaning out and the child's creating mess and housework as she goes on :)

Edit: @Juicyj Good luck running your 10k

Well first 10k done ran it in 1 hour 8 mins, no stops could of gone faster but didn’t want to go too crazy !! Bg levels were 12.7 before starting, turned my basal down to 80% for the run and finished at 5.4 luckily with a coffee and protein bar to pick me up at the end - feeling pretty chuffed :)

Have a good run today @Juicyj! My wretched knee’s getting worse so vicarious delight here however well you do.

12.3 first thing despite upping both basal and bolus

Have a good day peeps

That’s naughty of it, time to have words with your endocrine system methinks: and remember the code language.

Well done. That 12.7 start wasn't so bad then, maybe this morning it was the good diabetes gremlin helping you, rather than the bad one making life difficult. :)

Well done you; go team pancreatically challenged.

Good time and great control as well

I like that analogy - I had a good starting point to run from and a lot of leverage, was worried my muscles wouldn’t work well with the extra glucose but knew my bg level would come down just had the insulin on board to worry about instead, what was great was once I started I hardly thought about my t1.
