Type 1'stars R Us

Good morning y'all, another 10.1 for me having reached 12 whilst I slept, and for the wind up my little un missed her bus so I had to nip her in to town whilst my blood dropped to 8 with no fast acting and a coffee, sat at 8.2 waiting for the fast acting to start working so I can eat.

Then you come on here and see you're not the only one cursing :)

it showed him as below 3.5 all night which as a non-diabetic he wasn't. He also told me the sensors are heat sensitive
He may be wrong about that. Whilst I'd agree that sub-3.5 mmol/l overnight is probably a little low, there's now been a load of work done that shows that non-T1Ds regularly end up between 3.3 and 3.7 for long periods overnight...

And the Libre is definitely sensitive to temperature. It contains two thermistors (temperature related resistors) that produce values that are included in the Algorithm's calculations. Hot baths, and to a lesser extent, hot showers, definitely affect it.

Morning all. Well tried reducing the evening ratio and had to correct for a high at 3.00 am. It’s either correct for a low at that time or for a high. Like having a newborn! But without the prospect of it growing up and no chance at all of it taking me out to see the bluebells when I’m too old to be steady on my pins. Come to think of it, I’ve daughters who’ll do that, so I really don’t need this one.
It seems lots of us are having bs glitches at the moment, could it be the unseasonal weather? It’s like a midsummer day here.

@Knikki, have you had rises in bg as you would normally after a hypo that show you really were low overnight? I ask because mine sometimes shows hypo overnight when I know I wasn't; also saw a consultant yesterday who told me he'd worn one to see what it was like and it showed him as below 3.5 all night which as a non-diabetic he wasn't. He also told me the sensors are heat sensitive but the conversation then went in another direction so I didn't get to explore that....

Problem is with the Etch A Sketch is that when it says LO I tend not to believe it and have plenty of notes on my mobile version where is has "hahahaha lying bloods say ****" which is more of a note to myself.

But in response to your question I usually find that if it has been that LO then they usually recover after a couple of hours, if I have not done anything, to the high end of the normal range, that is overnight and I have slept through.

The particular thing in the original post I was referring to with the alarms was that I had turned them off, slept well, woke up and when I looked at the graphs I had hit 22 somewhere round midnight to 02:00 but because I had not woken up and left it alone when I woke up, which was about 08:00 I was at 7.8...… Still not worked that one out.

On a side note Morning All :)

Sorry to hear this, never a good start to the day. Must admit I always double check with my monitor when Libre shows below 4 or above 10 as I've found that at the extremes the sensors seem, for me anyway, to be less reliable. I'd also second @Juicyj, jelly babies live in my bedside cabinet :)

I do keep jelly beans beside my bed and normally use these if my BG is around 3.5 as i find they are a little slow at bringing BG up quickly. My go to thing to increase my BG, is a cup of warm coffee with 3 or so sugars well stirred for the instant hit followed by a couple of biscuits. And within 5 minutes it was on the up

My really bad hypo a couple of weeks ago had my BG at 2.3, this mornings BG was 2.1 hence the reason i was maybe panicking slightly, which of course does not help

I was going to comment about @smc4761 s pump dilemma, and was going to say log everything on the libre and then when push comes to shove it's all there in one place, they can't refute the data when it says if you don't correct you get DP, and if you do your control is good - but then @tim2000s has put it more succinctly!

@Cumberland nice pics, takes me back to when I were a lad on a school field trip up there aeons ago!

Good day all.

I had to read, reread and then expand the text from my message to understand what relevance this had. I'm afraid I live in a disposable world and that seems to include my own thoughts.
Now, I understand you are not suggesting sultanas distract from the spirituality of yoga  but are an easy mouldy clementine carb replacement .
I must admit, I have used dried fruit (apricots rather than raisins or sultanas) as hypo treatment when I was in the kitchen and fancied a change from GlucoTabs.
But, yesterday, I didn't need a fast fix so went for a couple of small crackers (not the ritz variety though) and some peanut butter.
Hopefully, today's breakfast of mango will be less eventful.

Welcome to my world of disposable thoughts :hilarious:

Tried dried fruit once a change from some of things I was eating at the time, this is pre Etch A Sketch, and one injection a day and eventually gave up on the dried fruit because boy did they make me

Ritz crackers for the win :)

Morning all, I found myself at 2.4 at about 11 pm last night, this has been happening a bit too often recently. I think I might have to make a phone call. I think it happens at the time the evening levemir dose starts to say hello, and as the bolus says goodbye, with it's little kick in the tail.

I think I'm going to have to make a phone call............

Good morning all. Woke to a 12 this morning. No alarms as the misses gave me a roasting for them going off the night before (oops). Steady on a 9 now :)
Well said @tim2000s with regards to the pump, do you want to come with me to my pump meeting :)

They seem almost like benefit appeals, maybe we should demand the right to take someone along.

FairyGodMother - You have an LE postcode, don't you?

My younger daughter’s LE, and so’s my ‘part time job venture’, but my home postcode’s CT, in Kent. Yes, I’ve heard that Leicester’s really good for T1 but I’m not sure if I can morally, and logistically, use the LE connection.

Thanks Tim that's really interesting. Just goes to show I was right about one thing - the more I learn the less I think I know! :)

I get that kick in drop too Alison, I’m also using Levemir. It usually rises if left to itself.

Yep, I get the panic thing, not funny at all

Another low just now, but thats due to rushing around a bit more than usual as have had to go to another site at work this morning due to other staffs child care issues means I'm up and on the go pretty much all the time, I'm now down to my last 2 glucotabs at least theres a shop just across the road and a sweetshop a few doors down - that must be a sweet shop owners Nirvana - a hypo T1D coming in for a 'fix'!

Yes, some nights it just goes down a little, but I'm not too keen on going down to 2.4.

I had gone to sleep on about 4.8, and assumed that would be ok, but then I woke up, and libre showed 2.9, and blood test 2.4. I'm not going to wait for that to rise.

I only had 3 units of novorapid for the evening meal, so there wasn't really any fast acting hanging around.

It’s a right old bullbaiter isn’t it! Makes one concerned about going to sleep and it going too low. Do you have a bit of carb before sleeping? I find that doing so is another concern as recently it’s only been taking about 10-15 grams and to raise bs to levels I find unacceptable.

I've had a similar experience. Even eating a small amount can then send my blood sugar too high. A lower dose makes that effect even worse, so I'm sort of stuck with the slightly higher dose, and the dip, and as you say, it's a bit of a sleep disruptor.

Was a gorgeous day, one of those days where you never want it to end
