I had a nice afternoon out yesterday, down by a canal, it was cloudy and a bit chilly, but a nice change. Watched a barge go by from the small bridge, then had a coffee and after that a walk :happy:

We got some canals around by us....no boats on ours die to them being full of Tesco trolleys!

Good morning all. Bloods are doing ok(ish) still dropping a bit from 5am to around the 3.8 mark small basal adjustment required....
 
Good morning all, have a cheerful Sunday. It seems there’s a new theme developing, the hazards of encountering elderly gents, so take care all you elderly blokes and never poke a woman in the bum with your walking stick or you’ll incur some insulin-enhanced wrath.
Throwing cigarettes into your neighbour’s garden’s a real hazard. Maybe, indeed, the fire dept would have some advice? It’s more than antisocial. There was an old man who used to open a friend’s garden gate to let his dog in for its morning poo. Yes, ugh! They got a lock for the gate, simple, but short of getting an expensive higher fence what else could Helen do?

I have tried parking my car further away but the elder guy who cannot walk to the docs managed to make it down the end of the road to deposit his cigarettes. Since words were spoken he seems to be absent. Perhaps his wife has allowed him to smoke in the house or perhaps he has been plotting his revenge (the car attacks were revenge for requesting that he uses an ashtray rather than littering the street). In the meantime, we are researching dashcams with 12 hour recording.
However, the car will be safe today as it is going to visit my parents. I have malt loaf packed for the visit and expect to spend most of the day setting up my Mum and her new tablet.

@porl69 from personal experience, I would recommend a note of caution with regard to over basal tweaking. Night after night of highs led me to some serial tweaking upwards and now I am attempting to gently tweak it down again.

Thanks for the advice, I won't tweak yet. I have a follow up appointment on the 28th so will see what the DSN tells me
 
Morning all, I have nothing constructive to offer with regard to dodgy neighbours, just sympathy @helensaramay. It's staggering how even petty things that unpleasant neighbours do can become seriously wearing. I hope you find a solution.

@porl69 it's great to see you getting on with your pump; I admire all of you who do. I find the thought of having to manage the number of calculations and adjustments you do overwhelming.

On a completely different tack, has anyone had an x-ray wearing a Libre? Abbott say you shouldn't but I don't know why or whether it's them just covering their ar**es in case a sensor doesn't work afterwards. I have to have a chest x-ray and would rather not have to take the sensor off. Any ideas?

No idea what it'll do, but how long into the 14 days of the sensor will the x-ray be? Could just try it and replace if it gets fried?

(though I do now know how to replace a sensor, not sure if I'd want to do it for real)

Hi,

I know I've been asked to remove jewellery in the past.
You maybe requested as part of the procedure to remove the sensor?
I've not pulled a Libre apart as of yet. But I'm guessing it isn't all plastic..

It probably depends whether the bit of you being x-rayed is near the sensor. I was wearing one on my arm when my knee was x-rayed and it was fine.

Afternoon all. I had a PROPER lie in today, first post 8am thing for three weeks. It was glorious.

Not much on today, I’ve got a wall hanging to put up in our bedroom, and need to sew a sleeve along the top edge so I can put it on a length of copper pipe we bought for the purpose. There’ll be another along the bottom to weigh it down and hold it straight.

Madame BG mostly behaving. Dipped to 3.8 just now, but up to 4.1 - I hammered the foot on the floor with a whole unit (I was at 5mmol) a couple of hours ago, my cunning plan of a 200% temp basal for an hour doesn’t seem to work as well as I’d hoped. I’m back to using the sliding scale I’d worked out back when I was on MDI.

Thanks @evilclive, @Jaylee, @Fairygodmother and @Mel dCP; my sensor will run out a couple of days before the (chest) x-ray so I could just delay applying the next one, but I use it so much and it's made life run more smoothly that I'm reluctant to be without it for even a couple of days if I don't have to. And I don't know how to replace a sensor and not sure I'd want to if I did ;) If yours showed up in the pic Mel and it still made no difference, looks like it could just be caution on the part of Abbott - if I keep it on, I'll let you know what happens!

Thinking a bit further, although one can sterilise the inserting needle easily enough, the sensor filament itself will be rather harder to do, so maybe reinserting would be a bad idea anyway.

(open up applicator - this is a destructive job. Remove metal needle from the top. Sterilise. Push through top of removed sensor so the C shape goes around the sensor. Push back onto body - ie stab yourself with the thing. Remove metal needle. Tape sensor on (will have lost stickiness when removing).)
 
Well, we have been quite productive. For us. Wall hanging and a couple of signed albums in frames in the bedroom put up, so that’s now finished. Woohoo! I do like a hammer drill. Junk transferred from old car to new, now nicknamed the “Meh-cra” (as it’s move up from being completely hateful) and I gave it a good wipe down with Clinell wipes (used for cleaning the inside of ambulances and hospital stuff) because some of it seemed a bit... sticky. Just need to get rid of the white “go faster” stripes someone though would improve it - literally a ring of white insulating tape from the headlights, along the door under the windows and around the back. I’ve ordered some black wheel trims for it too, gives even a small, girly car a more aggressive stance. So I’m all set to go to work tomorrow morning.
 
@Mel dCP . Sounds like you’ve stumbled on a very rare Micra convertible. They only manufactured a few. Remove the tape and the top comes away. Ideal for lazy hazy summer driving.:):):)

Hi @hh1, The only thing maybe if the sensor might obscure something on the Xray film but I would doubt that you would be wearing a sensor in a Chest Xray field?? I might be wrong of course !!
 
Morning everyone, ready for Monday?
No solid food since breakfast yesterday and can't have any until this afternoon til after the yuk procedure. Had bitless orange juice to keep up the BG level but slightly worried of how I'm going to manage this today coz I can't drink anything after 7.30 this morning.
Going to have a quick prick and see if I can raise Madam to around 8
