Good morning all from a tired and recuperating me.
Rant time!
Why is a potentially superb health system let down by systems, and IT?!!!!!!
My discharge letter was addressed to a doctor I’ve never heard of in a town 15 miles from home sweet home. An IT programme scuppering blip.
The lovely ward sister set to and tried to ensure it went to the right place.
I tried ringing the surgery yesterday but after waiting through two lots of 40 rings gave up. Sleep called.
I got through today. They’d not received a discharge letter and have no info on my surgery, not even that it had happened. Could I, asked the receptionist, get in touch with the surgeon’s secretary and ask for some information to be sent to them? Or, if I have a copy of the discharge letter, bring it in to them. Well, it’s only 10 days after now and I’m not walking far yet. I did 250 metres on Wednesday and slept, after a painful night, most of Thursday. Luckily I don’t live alone and maybe him indoors can take it there.
Just imagine if the same broken system was used for air traffic control. No, don’t, it might be.
I’m now tired and angry that I’ve had to go to such lengths to try to make things happen as they should.
Rant over.
