Night night everyone, sleep well. Not many lows here, still got the wretched cough so bloods needing correction and today Fiasp was on a go slow. The only low(ish - 4.2 -) bloods were when it caught up. Ah well, tomorrow’s another day.

Bad day for me in work today bgs decided they wanted to hit the deck sometimes its like insulin is at double strength ihad 2 toast for breakfast bloods were 4.4 as i knew i was going to be busy in work i only took 2 units of insulin 2 hours later 2.4 had a couple jelly babies and an alpine bar went to 5.3 1 hour after that down to 3 more jelly babies and a digestive half an hour later had my lunch only gave half the amount of insulin got home at 2pm bgs now 5 ive been like this on an off for a couple of weeks now have done basal tests and they seem fine nice straight lines ive changed vials even from different boxes its just mad i had a big fat kebab for tea took less insulin for that too currently 6.2 and going to bed so thanks for listening peeps im gonna have a digestive in bed (on tommys side b4 he comes up they are very crumbly )anyway goodnight everyone sleep well

Mine did the same thing last night! Identical tea as the day before ( I cook in batches). Same dose of novorapid. But instead of being ok, 2 hours later I was 3.5 with a vertical down arrow! Enough jelly beans to raise bg by 2 had no effect. 15 minutes later still dropping at 2.9. More jelly beans, 15 minutes later 2.4. Many jelly beans later and bg finally levelled then started to slowly rise. I had injected lantus with the novorapid but I’m sure it was subcutaneously (it was in my behind and to hit muscle I would need a kebab skewer type needle). All I could do was to keep repeating the descriptive noun for one who bugs. So you are not alone in experiencing the vagaries of t1d. My next problem is that tonight’s tea is the same as yesterday. What to do?

Hope your ok now ? I had a 2.8 before bed so had to wait until levels were sorted before sleep, have woken up at 12.9..

Morning all. Quick trip to the supermarket, then I think I should just have enough time to make some extra firm tofu before I go for a repeat blood test. The epilepsy drug I take sort of encourages low sodium, which always gets my medic's knickers in a twist. I end up with a repeat test most times. Usually OK on the second test.

When I get home I am making seitan bacon, steaks, and creamy coconut mushrooms. I'll have a seitan steak and the mushrooms for dinner, along with a jacket spud and some sort of green veg. Husband has decided to cook his own actual flesh dinner or else he could have shared mine. I hope he's not expecting to share the oven while I'm making seitan!

I do try not to show how I feel, but I don't particularly enjoy sitting opposite him wondering who he is eating, and what they were like.

‘Diabetes is the beast within us that can show its fury’! Love that!
The fury certainly visited me yesterday. Who knew a basic salad and tuna could raise you nearly 10mmols Eventually needed 6 units to calm that particular beast. Don’t normally eat tea but on a Tuesday we eat about 11:30am with grandson so was a little peckish. Had tinned soup, 2 pieces homemade bread and some plums and creme fraiche. About 80 carbs. Took 8 units, kept a beady eye on that Libre. No real peak, stayed steady all night. A lovely 5.4 this morning. That’s the last time I eat a basically carb salad without injecting insulin first.
Have a good day all. It is lovely and sunny here, so we are ‘in blooming’ in the churchyard.

Thanks becca, yes diabetes can be a so n'so at times. I tested at 10pm last night at 5,6, brilliant, but this morning double figures again :banghead::( I will mention this to my DSN when I see her next week.

5.4 is fantastic and wishing you a good day :)

I was explaining to a friend yesterday about the utterly contrary nature of diabetes... "Some days it's a toddler, some days it's a teenager, some days it needs only basic attention, but it seems to work if I treat it like I treat my students and assume no two days are ever going to be the same or which I'm going to wake up and find it's going to be."

Still, I woke up on a perfect number this morning, after a 3.00 a.m. extra bolus to account for the Train Journey Cheese and Onion Pasty effect. (I do this particular trip 3 or 4 times a year, and was delighted insulin meant I could go back to my treat meal of a pasty from the pasty shop at the station - which would have not been at all possible in my meds/diet-controlled T2 days) I'd previously got it sussed for not eating all the pastry crust and eating it at lunchtime on the way to friend's house, but I had it on the way home this time, ate all the crust because I wanted to, but then didn't walk most of the effects off as I usually do on this particular kind of day. Plus, I think I'm suffering a bit from End of Levemir Pen Effect as I've had to add an extra couple of units for the last few days. That pen's just finished so I'll go back to the usual amount with the new pen.

Last day of being sociable for this half term before hunkering down into total introvert mode for a few days - or the last six weeks of the academic year will be a nightmare! I do only cope with the extroverted nature of my working life by being relatively anti-social for much of the out of term time weeks.

Home, and must have more coffee before making the tofu.

Chuffed to bits because today I got the olive oil flavoured with white truffle. I usually forget. I also got a new book of Vegan Treats - masses of absolutely fantastic cake, biscuit and sweets recipes! I'll have a trawl through, pick five and see which ingredients I haven't got and need to buy.

The Rocky Road bars look gorgeous, but they do more sensible granola type bars for the lunch box too. I'm going to enjoy learning these!

The Evil D is plotting. I know this because it is behaving. I woke at 6.3 this morning which is very special after pasta last night. When Evil D does this, is lulls me into a false sense of security and then, when I am not expecting it, Wam! it will go hey wire.
I know, I should be pleased with the current value. I am but I am also suspicious.

Let's see what happens at the Spin vs Evil D battle later.

In other news, @WuTwo, when you wrote about coconut mushrooms, I thought of these

I can't imagine they are vegan and definitely don't go with seitan steak ... at least, I don't think so.

Nope - sliced mushrooms in a creamy coconut & garlic sauce

You'd be surprised about the steak - it's the thing I feed meat eaters that has them asking me if I'm absolutely sure this meat is vegan.....

Right, got to make a start on the tofu (it takes a whole 10 minutes to make, the rest is just "pressing" time when the moisture is squashed out of it).

I was wondering if adding a spice or two to the mix would work. I'd have to try it in very small quantities to start with so as not to waste, but it might be worth it!

Bf did a good shop, he spent £7 on painkillers because I wrote painkillers on the list and his excuse “I didn’t know what painkillers to get you”
Also he got two packets of oreos and three boxes of belvitas

Morning all,
Thanks for kind words and hugs, they're much appreciated and needed.

Reason to be cheerful 1,2,3
"A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome, we can spare it - yellow socks
Too short to be haughty, too nutty to be naughty"

Went back to bed at 5.30 on a biscuit high 10.4 so not surprised at 9.2 this morning. So that's one reason to be cheerful
The 2nd reason is I've only got 50 more scripts to mark
The 3rd reason is I'm thinking about having a holiday and going somewhere in the UK by the sea and travelling there by train.
Anyone got any suggestions?

Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning all...
