@Tony337 So true about that!!! I would not eat at a 12 either! Well, if I was really really hungry, maybe a few nuts. But yea, it has changed how we deal with a lot of things. Can't just grab that sandwich to eat when we are hungry or we pay a price for it.

Good to hear from you @urbanracer ! I think I would have just toted a 30 day supply around with me? And a back up with the in laws in case something went wrong???
My wife's family are spread over a wide area. Some in central Manila, some in the north (Isabella) and some in the south (Tayabas). Because we were living out of suitcases I simply forgot my insulin when re-packing. We are going back in June for a wedding so I'll have to be more careful.

It's funny how we can forget something so important to us!!! A couple weeks ago I went through a phase of forgetting to take any insulin before I ate. Something I have to do everyday, every time I eat and suddenly I was forgetting. Maybe I was more stressed or something because I am back to normal, well, back to my normal!

Avoiding such things is not a problem for me but Thursdays are a different kettle of fish....
Its roast potato day and before roasting they are boiled and its at that point i am offered a bowl of the lovely things with butter and cheese........Bliss

I just made rosemary black pepper roasted potatoes wedges Saturday, pure delight!!!! But now you have me craving boiled potatoes with parsley and salt, another favorite of mine!!! And I still have some potatoes, so easy!!!!

I go away 4 weeks of the year to the canaries.
I lose weight.
I adore everything about the canaries with one exception.....they have no idea how to cook potatoes so i don't eat any hence the weight loss.
Soon as i get back out pop the potatoes and weight comes back along with the dreaded insulin resistance.

Me and potatoes were made for each other and i even have a recipe book entirely dedicated to potatoes!

Lady luck strikes again.
Had a winner winner chicken dinner at 6 pm last night along with some free flowing red wine...hic
Woke at 5.30am on 5.2 flat lined all night and 4 hours later i'm still in the 5s.
Coffee and no food required.
That reminds me that elsewhere on a FB forum someone was in the 12s and decided they wanted some toast.
I asked why would you eat if in the 12s?
I certainly would not and the reply i got was "because i was hungry"....
I thought about this for quite some time and realised how diabetes has skewed my thought processes.

Forgive the pun but it was food for thought....

Happy monday

Tony
By my reasoning. The errant 6mmol corrected for. Would be "breakfast."

Good afternoon
At one point i felt i was dominating this thread so i have left it alone for a week or two.
Its a lovely day here on the very edge of the pennines and i'm a little bit high and it just so happens i have some outside jobs to .....funny that..

Haven’t posted for a while, but read regularly.

It’s been a heavy time since Christmas. My brother and I have been backwards and forwards to aged parents in our home town over the last three years. After Christmas my dad asked for him and my mother to go in a care home as he was ill and could no longer care for himself and mum who has early dementia. We chose a place ten minutes from our house. Moved them in. But less than three weeks later my ninety two year old dad died. My mother and myself were with him. The last four weeks we have been organising his funeral and burial back in Grimsby. Funeral on Monday next. Managing this condition at the same time has been a challenge but I’ve managed it. So feeling quite proud.

Roll on a holiday with friends at the end of next week I’m going to need it.

I'm so sorry to hear @becca59 , and I can only echo @Marie 2 's thoughts.
I hope the funeral will be one that honours him and gives you and other loved ones room to enjoy good memories.

Well done on keeping all the balls in the air, you're rightfully proud!

And enjoy that very well deserved holiday!
