Type 2 Life

I'm OK William but I do have a painful chest, sore head and slightly higher temperature, I've not done anything today just slept and lain on sofa but my blood glucose level is high, 8.4 an hour ago. However, I don't feel really ill if you know what I mean. (Singing) I will survive! Lol

@13lizanne - Anna, but you know it's the hormones fighting the "illness" that raises your blood sugar.
It could just be a 24 hour bug? = let's hope it's that.but, then you'll be back on the ball in no time. I do hope you are better by tomorrow, sending you a big hug. Maybe a medicinal drink and early night might be of benefit? Wmx

Hi all, hope everyone is feeling better. @liam1955 I'm sending you good hugs for the good news and aww hugs for the not so good news :) @13lizanne I hope you feel better tomorrow, hopefully your day of rest will have sorted you out. I've had quite a productive day today, I went up to Lidl and they had protein rolls and celeriac yay! I stocked up on both so tomorrow I shall be experimenting :) A had this drama group tonight so I went to a retail park next to our train station. It has a hobbycraft where I got some wool on special offer (3 for 2) and they have some clothes stores too. I wanted a smart pair of jeans to wear next week, and I found some in the sale. The best thing is, they're size 12 :D

@Diamum5972 - Thank You. I too bought a new pair of trousers today, and I am really pleased that I got a smaller size (lost 2 inches around my waist) - so, You and I both had a good day with our purchases.:)

Hello @liam1955 I swam for an hour again today and did 40 lengths,! But I didn't get to buy my new monitor. I asked about the vat exemption and a brusque, abrupt pharmacist asked me if I was type 1, type 2 on insulin and when I answered no to each he announced to the world that I didn't need a monitor as I had no reason to test!! Of course everyone waiting for prescriptions were staring at me. So my son has ordered it from Amazon for me. I tried to write this ages ago but the site went down.

@mo53 - Yeah I have been checking to get on the forum for ages, was getting withdrawal symptoms!!! Well done you for your swimming, have you been doing it for long? I think that is disgraceful being spoken to like that in the chemist. I would boycott using that chemist. And he (pharmacist) is wrong = you can claim vat, my mother was only on tablets for Diabetes and I claimed the vat off her walking 3 wheeled frame AND her wheelchair too. Amazon is good I buy quite a lot of stuff from that company. Bet, your excited in getting your new meter, do you know how long it's going to be for delivery?

Well done on your HBA1C result @liam1955. And on your weight loss, I'm sure that those last few pounds will come off shortly. I also have a (self imposed) aim of losing at least 2 stone. I decided that when I was diagnosed. 2 stone would bring my BMI to under 25. So far, since January 1st, I've lost 1 stone 6 lbs. But it's slowed down a lot!

Morning folks, it's a grey and misty day today but I'm still going to go for my walk later. @13lizanne I do hope you feel better soon, I'm sending you virtual hugs!
@TooManyCrisps that's a fantastic weight loss! Several years ago I lost 2 and a half stone but it crept back on and this time I'm finding it much harder to lose. I still have half a stone left to lose and it's being particularly stubborn!

@liam1955 sorry I disappeared so quick after all the time to get on the site I then found I needed to charge my battery. I hope everyone has a good day. I'm hoping to go swimming again. :)

@TooManyCrisps - Well Done You:) I praise you in losing 1 stone 6lbs and since January, that is really, really good. My Diabetes Nurse advised me to lose it slowly about 3 - 4lbs over a fortnight, so I began in November, 2015 and have only lost 1 stone 4lbs, have only got 10lbs left to lose and it is being bloody stubborn. I am now having 3 -4 crackers, buttered with piece of cheese at 11p.m, and my fbs was 5.8 this morning. Will continue this for a couple of nights and hope all my fbs remain in the 5s? As I am finding going from after dinner (7.30pm) is far too long fasting overnight.:)

Morning, FBG 7.4 and improving. Eating better and have more energy. Taking things easy. :)

@eddie1968 - Morning. Good to read you are improving and getting your energy back. Don't suppose you have heard about your results 're: sleep clinic?

Hello all, just enjoyed my usual 40min morning walk which took 60mins today:) my 2hr pp test was 7.3, I'm used to seeing 4.6-4.9 so annoying! Do you think that we all become a bit fixated with our BG levels? I know that I do! Feeling OK just a bit wheezy better than yesterday. How is everyone else today?

Completely agree with you on that @13lizanne - I test 4 times a day out of the "supposed to 7" = ALWAYS do the morning fasting, before lunch, before Dinner and before bed and like blood pressure, do I check and record that everyday? NO, I don't - maybe 3 - 4 times a week! (If I remember).

@maureen5752 - Can I ask what medication are you taking for Diabetes? If you take Metformin ? It is not supposed to make you put on weight. It may help you to lose weight if you are type 2 along with Diet and Exercise. Metformin lowers the amount of sugar created by the liver, and decreases the amount of sugar absorbed by the intestines.:)
