Type 2 Life

@TooManyCrisps - Well Done You:) I praise you in losing 1 stone 6lbs and since January, that is really, really good. My Diabetes Nurse advised me to lose it slowly about 3 - 4lbs over a fortnight, so I began in November, 2015 and have only lost 1 stone 4lbs, have only got 10lbs left to lose and it is being bloody stubborn. I am now having 3 -4 crackers, buttered with piece of cheese at 11p.m, and my fbs was 5.8 this morning. Will continue this for a couple of nights and hope all my fbs remain in the 5s? As I am finding going from after dinner (7.30pm) is far too long fasting overnight.:)
Hi @liam1955. I lost the first stone very quickly because I switched to eating lchf and the weight just dropped off. But now I'm losing at about 1lb per week, which feels sustainable. I have a thin hungry husband and two teenage boys so there is always plenty of temptation in the kitchen cupboards! In fact, one of my sons is slightly underweight and we worry slightly about him needing to put on weight.

Your weight loss sounds good, I'm sure the rest of those pesky pounds will go soon. Do you do lots of exercise? I do 8 gym classes a week, but I always have to do them in the evening because I work full time. It means I eat dinner very early, usually around 5.30pm and then don't eat again until breakfast.

@TooManyCrisps - You have done brilliantly in such a short amount of time. As for your Son I don't know what to say, except if he is underweight and does not have much of an appetite - he should probably go and see the GP and have blood tests done? Sorry, I can't be more help! :)

Lol @13lizanne! Glad to see you up and about, but make sure you take things easy. I could do with taking my own advice, I just went for a heck of a ramble! The fog cleared this morning so it was quite pleasant after lunch. I was planning on popping in to see my mum and going down to her shops but they weren't home - I'd forgotten they were going on a day trip today doh! I went down to her shops but they didn't have the hot and spicy peperami that A likes so I ended up going into town on a peperami hunt :) Luckily Sainsburys had them but by the time I got back I'd notched up over 10,000 steps :)

Hello everyone. I hope you all are having a good day. The weather has been beautiful here. I went swimming again and did the equivalent of 45 lengths in the hour. I think I'm getting faster. If I could go every day it would be great. The funny thing is the more I stick to my LCHF diet, and the more I swim the more snug my costume feels!! Lol it should be feeling looser!:)

@mo53 - Brilliant Mo. But, just be careful if you are swimming too fast it might just slip off in the water!!!

@mo53 - get your hubby to go with you? You are such a good sport Mo, it's a joy knowing you. :D Right, I have to go now. Chat later on.:)

Mo it's because you are tightening up your figure and strengthening your muscles I bet you feel much tighter about your middle and waist?

I weighed the same-8 1/2 stone all my adult life, well, until I was 40yrs old but I'm not as tall as you. Anyway, it's really good that you are becoming so fit Barbara, it will help the diabetes too

Morning everyone - today is an exciting day for A. He's going to see a friend perform at a theatre in Leicester, unfortunately the afternoon performance had sold out so he's going to have to get creative with his travel! The last train from Leicester to Coventry leaves 10 minutes before the evening performance finishes so he's going to get the train from Leicester to Nuneaton, leg it to the bus station and catch the bus back home!

Hello everybody. I'm waiting in for my new meter from Amazon so housework shortly but I've just had a lesson in how my swimming effects my weight. I weighed myself this morning and thought I had lost weight so went on myfitnesspal to log it only to discover that I was 1lb heavier than in Ferbruary, despite more concentration on diet and more exercise. So I looked at the calories graph for the month and nothing significant so looked at the exercise graph and remembered I had had 10days at least with no swimming! This was the culprit! Moral of the story for me is if I can't swim I must do some form of exercise if possible. :)

Never posted in this section before although I have in others, it is so nice reading all your posts (well some of them) and seeing what a lovely friendly lot you all are so I hope I can join in with you. I am type 2 not on any medication and have been diagnosed about 3 years (for some reason can't remember). Like everyone I have had my ups and downs and am in a particularly dark place at the moment. 9 months ago my levels were running at 7.3 and Dr threatened to put me on medication but I don't really want to so told him I would sort it out, 3 months after my average was 6.3 and 6kg lost, great Dr says see you in 3 months to see how it is going, well been totally off the rails as I was really disappointed with my averages, I really did think that they would be a lot lower and it hit me really bad so have not been doing very well averages have been up to 8.5 and a couple of readings have been in the teens, but for some reason since Wednesday this week I have started to cut all the c**p out and have found my readings are dropping into the 5s and low 6s already, don't know if I have lost any weight yet (put it all back on again of course), enjoying my walking again, can't go very fast as I take my two old dogs with me but when the nights get brighter I will go on my own so that I can walk a bit faster (not a very safe place to go in the dark) I childmind in the week so a bit difficult to get out again in the day time yet. Sorry not making much sense, anyway forgive the long story just felt the need to say hopefully I can get back onto the good ways again and stay there, with all your inspiration I am sure I can.
Thank you

Hello @maisiepug thank you for writing your post. I think we can all relate to it. Your walking sounds really good for keeping fit. This is a very friendly thread. Welcome. :)
