Type 2 Life

Lol @13lizanne! I must admit I was tempted for the first time the other day, it's my cousin Maria's birthday today and I sent up a Galaxy bar with her birthday card. I came that close to getting a bar for myself!

@paula.nolan42 very useful having a brother in Madrid, mine only lives a spit up the road which is very unexciting :-)

I have my first Pilates class this morning and am hoping I do not make an utter twit of myself. I finally joined the Spa up the road (no excuse really as I can walk to it!). I have to say I am actually enjoying it as it gives me some me time. I make sure that I give myself plenty of time when I go so that I can do a class, then have a swim have a relaxing shower and then enjoy a pot of mint tea and relax for 20 minutes afterwards.

I am investing the money I am saving from giving up smoking in November which I feel is a better investment than the fags!

Got my gym induction tomorrow which is a bit of a OMG moment :-)

We are breathless with admiration @Lindy1706 Here it's dismal, pouring rain and I've just returned from my morning walk - dripping wet but exhilarated in some strange way. What we'll do for low blood sugar levels. Well done you, that seems a much more civilised option you've chosen :)

I joined the gym last year and after endless higher bgs I was put off.
Some guys on here have to nibble through the whole experience on tiny amounts of protein to keep their bgs in check.
I get rather stressed when exercising. Swimming is a whole different ball game. Much less stressful for me. :-)

It is my only bit of civilisation lol as I also have 3 dogs who have to go out for their morning yomp, preferably somewhere wet, muddy and with the proper amount of fox and goose pooh to roll in. And a bog monster of a retired horse who now spends his entire life eating and I have to deal with the end results of that on a daily basis.....its been like the Somme this year!

So the Spa is my one little bit of peace where I can actually not be covered in mud hay and straw :-)

@ickihun to be honest the Gym bit of it interests me not a jot lol, I am doing 3 Aqua classes a week, I swim most days, and am dipping my toe into Pilates and yoga....For me this is mostly about relaxation and investing in me....something I came to I had not been doing for a while.

Interesting point about the BG readings going up after excercise I will keep an eye on this. At the moment my big thing is fluids, I can always tell if I have not drunk enough as my BG levels go up.

Found a new (for me) bread in Tesco, Braces Farmhouse Seeded sliced, high fibre.
per slice
Energy 124 kcal = 6%
Fat 3.4g = 5%
(sats) 0.7g = 3%
Sugars 1.2g = 1%
Salt 0.38g = 6%

The information looked pretty good so I thought I would give it a try for a change instead of Bergen. Because I rarely eat bread now, on Friday I thought I'd have poached eggs on toast x 2. I ate the 2 eggs but only 1 and a bit of the toast because I was full.
Testing before 5.2 (yea)
Testing after 8.5 (boo)

I don't get this with Bergen so I won't be having that again. I thought I would tell you in case you are tempted to try, although I realise we all react differently to different foods.

Hi @doolallylady I think an important component might be missing from the list you posted, the carbohydrate content, which might explain your "boo". I do find bread a red flag, though I still bake it for the family... and burn myself in the hot oven... which is not too bright as a DB!!

Recently I discovered that I can eat a small amount of reheated boiled potatoes - hurrah! But bread is a no no - no sandwiches, no rolls - hiss! which is a great shame as I used to live on toast and soup+sandwiches for days at a time in my pre-diabetic days and,to a lesser extent, when I was on Metformin.

I'm still struggling for finding ways to eat Marmite.. which I loved on hot buttery toast or even in a roll....

I go to the gym every evening but it does sometimes raise my BG levels and sometimes doesn't. I can't go until late evening due to work and family commitments, so it's after I've eaten my evening meal.

Hi Folks. Again another acceptable fasting of 6.1 this morning. I ate 2 well buttered crackerwheat and slices of Cheese (Red Leicester my favourite) at Midnight and checked blood sugar before bed at 1.15am and it was 6.2. I had 7 hours of Undisturbed sleep (Tramadol = thanks) but, I not having any tonight, don't want to get addicted - again!! Tomorrow it is week 2 and I have my second lot (2 injections) of Cosentyx at 11am. At the hospital in the morning for 9.30am Richard's appointment - so will post later in the day.
