Type 2 Life

@liam1955 yes I thought 10g was too much. My partner drives too. I think I will wait until we can go to Lidl and I will stock up by freezing some of the rolls. I must ask , have you got strong winds and showers of hailstones in York. It's really cold here now.

The Lidls rolls are approx 11g carbs each and 1 slice of ordinary wholemeal/brown/white bread is anything from 17-24g carbs that's per slice so @mo53 s bread is very low carb

Oh! Thank You for that Anna, I didn't know. So, is a Lidl roll more filling that a slice of bread?

No, it's gloriously Sunny here - but breezy here in "Costa 'de' York's !=

Yes. Half a Lidl roll is as filling as a slice of bread. And they are wonderful with marmite. @13lizanne thank you for that. It puts it all in perspective.

@Diamum5972 well done! That's brilliant!

Yes, I believe so. They are very high fibre and full of seeds. Many people only eat half a roll at a time. When I started lchf I was broken hearted to find my favourite Irish bread and Scottish Plain white were both 24grams of carbohydrates a slice so a bacon sandwich was more than my entire days allowance of carbohydrates. Even a slice of wholemeal from a normal 800g loaf e.g Warburtons is at least 17g

Sounds like a very good day indeed

I love the Lidls rolls, they are very filling and very good when toasted. Today I had one sliced in half, toasted with a tin of crab meat, spring onion and goats cheese. Delish.

Edit: I alternate between the Lidl Rolls and the Burgen bread and every other day no bread at all.

Are they still nice after freezing them?

The Lidl rolls are great because they're so filling you only need half. So I make them up with chicken etc then cut them in half and eat them for lunch over 2 days. We don't have a Lidl in Cambridge though so I can't get hold of them that often.

I would feed it to the birds! They would be glad of it Mo. But, at least you have done your bit of "experimenting" = Well done for our cause.

Hi hope everyone's ok. Still have to rejoin every time. Phoned diabetesuk. Said they'd contact me to try sort it out but heard nothink. Can't keep rejoining every time, anyway sugars are finally bit lower, seems I had reaction to steroids. I'll keep trying to sort this problem out but getting tired of rejoining every time. Don't know what's going on. Keep posting, I can read but can't jion in!

Happy birthday!

Hi, @maureen5752. Funnily enough, it was after 3 months of steroids that I got my T2 diagnosis...

@liam1955 yes I thought it was good. But it always makes me hungry . I'm glad you asked I've been meaning to ask you if you have watched , Bake Off Creme de la Creme on BBC 2? It's teams of pastry chefs competing so it is all cakes and pastries?
