I know the feeling my step mum's Dad had uncontrolled type2 and she brought me a big bag of pick n mix back from a weekend away last week. Whenever I go there she tries to give me crisps or pasta as part of my dinner.Unbelievable. I went this eve to a friend's house for a little get together, this friend has Type2 even had bariatric surgery to lose a lot of weight and halt the Type2....Unfortunately it didn't work for the Type2 but she is very "baggy" now (her words). She knows I was diagnosed a few months ago.
The food plate she handed me was a BG bomb! Tortilla, cous cous with apricots et al, hummus the list goes on. I was bewildered. I mean she has been to mine and we've had nibbles for all. My only concession for non-diabetics was some artisan bread. Everything else was low carb. Including the red wineEveryone loved it.
I had a taste of everything on the plate, then had to put it down.
She ate the food and her banoffee flan thingy she tried to tempt me with. As she was eating it I was trying not to stare..... each to his own.
Only thing is she is medically trained, whilst we never worked in the field we trained in I have assumed she would have a bit more knowledge???? Am I way to judgy to go and repent at the altar of friendship, eat the **** food. Or do I say something???
A really strange situation to be in, esp as non-diabetic friend, over the weekend, went out of her way that our meals were low carb and full fat for my quest to be complication free for as long as possible.
Anyone had an experience like that??
Anyone had an experience like that??
Next time, I would make a point of taking my own plate of food
I've come to the conclusion that it is not me who needs Cognitive behaviour therapy
