Type 2 Life

Had a 6.1 this am.... I didn't have my bulletproof yesterday and I had a sweet snack after midnight. A good one, 10 raspberries, soya cream with HALF a square of chocolate grated over the top. With a further square just scarfed....
Live n learn - drink my fat. Have the treat earlier in the day. Bish bosh, fasting BS will come down....
Brought a pair of size 12 jeans yesterday and they looked good! Not been in jeans of this size for 9years.... so every cloud ;)

It's a lovely sunny Sunday in Newcastle, if a bit breezy. At least we haven't had the rain like some of you folks have described. My FBG was an ok 5.3 this morning. Dull headache, but not as bad as it's been over the past few days. LOVE the sound of that steak n trimmings @Alzebra. Will definitely be giving it a go. Feel a tad flat today...but hey, we all get those days I guess. Best wishes & good health everyone. X

Gonna have to stop buying my daily Costa Skinny Latte with an Espresso shot. Definitely think it's contributing to my headaches. Has minimal effect upon my BG I'm glad to say. But, maybe the Caffeine hit was a tad too much. Perhaps just a plain old Americano next time. :woot:

6.0 at 5:15 on this yukky old day. Bad sleep last night and early get up due to catching a train to the smoke.

Morning. So grey down here in Bath. Back to London town today....

What a difference a fat drink makes. I even had my new pud/snack quite late. A lot more raspberries with a few blueberries chucked in. Then some soya dream (no likey but couldn't find Lactofree) with a square of 85% grated over the lot. Mmmmm. At 11pm.

5.1 this am! so buy shares in kerry gold then?

FBG 5.0 this morning. I extended my walk yesterday, from 3 miles to approx 4.5 miles but the app I use to plot my walks didn't work so I don't know exactly how far I went or how long it took me  Still, I can always just walk the route again to find out!

Afternoon folks

I had a more reasonable 5.5 this morning, but had to fly off to work a bit sharpish as I hadn't realised how the time was flying by.

Evening all, 5.3 this morning after staying overnight at friends house from a busy day shopping.
@Alzebra What a great idea - Steak on the NHS, I think they should trial it in the hospitals, along with fried egg and bacon for breakfast

Unbelievable. I went this eve to a friend's house for a little get together, this friend has Type2 even had bariatric surgery to lose a lot of weight and halt the Type2....Unfortunately it didn't work for the Type2 but she is very "baggy" now (her words). She knows I was diagnosed a few months ago.
The food plate she handed me was a BG bomb! Tortilla, cous cous with apricots et al, hummus the list goes on. I was bewildered. I mean she has been to mine and we've had nibbles for all. My only concession for non-diabetics was some artisan bread. Everything else was low carb. Including the red wine;) Everyone loved it.
I had a taste of everything on the plate, then had to put it down.
She ate the food and her banoffee flan thingy she tried to tempt me with. As she was eating it I was trying not to stare..... each to his own.
Only thing is she is medically trained, whilst we never worked in the field we trained in I have assumed she would have a bit more knowledge???? Am I way to judgy to go and repent at the altar of friendship, eat the **** food. Or do I say something???

A really strange situation to be in, esp as non-diabetic friend, over the weekend, went out of her way that our meals were low carb and full fat for my quest to be complication free for as long as possible.

Anyone had an experience like that??

I know the feeling my step mum's Dad had uncontrolled type2 and she brought me a big bag of pick n mix back from a weekend away last week. Whenever I go there she tries to give me crisps or pasta as part of my dinner.
My little step brother who is 7 keeps backing me up saying
"Louise can't eat that it's bad for her blood"
Bless him

Yeah, and I, like you, asked myself ***? the only solution I could come up with was that my friend needed to justify her own self destructive behaviour by enabling / initiating another diabetic into the same mentality. I think you were very polite in having a taste of what was on the plate. Next time, I would make a point of taking my own plate of food ;) I also experience the same behaviour from a friend who is non diabetic, extremely clinically obese, she complains she can't lose weight, when seeing I had lost over 2 stone in two months wanted to adopt the same eating regime as me....... after weeks of her saying "I can't lose any weight" when she had over 30 bags of crisps in her cupboard, biscuits etc, etc So, I found a new diet called the cheat system, where she could have 10 cheats of eating **** a day, she still hasn't lost any weight  BUT, she will merrily try and entice me with food she knows I can't eat!! I've come to the conclusion that it is not me who needs Cognitive behaviour therapy :wideyed:

5.2 this morning which I'm happy with. Last night went to friends for a meal. I had told her not to worry about the food as I need to know what happens if I eat more "normal" type food. Tuna and pasta bake followed by apple and blackberry crumble. Before I was 4.7 so thought that was a good position to try something different. Two hours later I went up to 8.2. So obviously not happy with a 3.5 spike. Pasta I normally limit myself to 30 grams and this time I had a normal portion. Also apples and blackberries (not tested before) and flour and sugar in the crumble. I'm trying to learn. My thoughts are that I could probably mange either the pasta or the crumble but not both in the same meal. I hope I didn't spike for too long but at least was back down this morning.

Good suggestion, I will mention it to her next time I see her, hopefully tactfully
I will also bring a plate and some food to share... even if it is just a lump of cheese or some cold meats.

This is very strange, I'm due to visit family I haven't seen since diagnosis and I am the only family member to significantly change my diet as a treatment method even though Type2 is rampent in my gene pool. In light of yesterday, this will be interesting with well meaning family members thinking they 'know' what I can eat. Esp as rice and starchy root veg is the mainstay of our cultural diet. Breadfruits/yams/cassava/eddo's/sweet potato/rice n peas(legumes)/macaroni pie/cornmeal/fruit salads/upside down cake... this could all be at one family gathering and the list will go on. Explains a lot in hindsight.

I am going to have to be prepared... I'll take a cauliflower or celeriac with me I think, and get around it that way.
