Type 2 Life

When I woke I had a 5.3 just been doing manual labour aka house work on no breakfast as not hungry and now a 5.7... thank you liver for helping out, err not really required doh.

Morning Folks

6.5 for me this morning, again, higher than I have come to expect.

Retest was no better.

Looking at my curves, there seems to be a general upward trend since returning from holiday, which is a bit of a surprise as I was a bit cavalier with my eating while away and felt I am being stricter now, also feeling better and getting more exercise as a result.

I seem to have gained a couple of Kgs too, which I didn't expect either.

Hi folks. Having a nice chilled day today. I enjoy winding down, reading my Kindle book with a hot cup of tea & snuggled up warm n cosy. Consequently, I didn't test upon waking this morning. Couldn't be bothered to be truthful. But, I see it as a positive thing really. Being relaxed enough to miss the occasional FBG means I'm pretty okay with my self management. However, I tested after eating brunch, recording a 5.2, which I'm fine with. Good health everyone. Enjoy the rest of your Monday. :)

Lou lou I too had a late dinner. Grilled fish n butter smothered veg, but it was late. Need to eat by 6pm for bloods to behave in the morning.

So a 5.7 this am.

Actually the routine my bloods seem to require, goes against my personality...I'm struggling with that actually. Trying to maintain a routine is quite stressful I find...

same here, dinner half an later and mornings go to pot.... like to sit down at 19:15 and be done by 19:45... though spanners can get in the works.... grrrr...

I hope everyone has been well and despite my absence from this particular forum, I constantly root for all of your success.

It has been a while, but I am recommitted to the morning ritual of posting my numbers as it keeps me on track for gaining control, which has been so elusive over the past few weeks. My fasting blood glucose this morning was 8.5. I'm ready to take my insulin to the diabetes mechanic for a tune up before a moment of weakness has me happily eating myself to death at the Pringles factory.

I'm 'eating to my meter' and have now got day time BG levels within 'normal range as recommended for T2 - but it's still the fasting reading each morning that's between 7 and 8.2. I've been reading up about the "Dawn Phenomenon" http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/17561156.php and wonder what I can do that doesn't involve taking extra meds.
I've lost a stone and 8 pounds since June 8th (diagnosis day), read the 'Reverse your Diabetes Book' (inspiring and really useful). I walk or cycle 5 times a week and am on a very Low Carb diet - but not too much fat as I want the weight to go down asap!! I take Sitagliptin 50mg each morning with an 'EasyBetic' capsule morning and evening. At night I have a small glass of milk but then I wake around 3 - 4am with my heart pounding and it takes ages to get back to sleep...... any thoughts gratefully received x

ps - I'd like to include my readings and a 'motivational thought' at the end of a post - but don't know how to go about it......

Hi @Tirianne. Higher than wanted morning blood glucose levels are the plague of many diabetics. Myself included. It's often a case of trial & error finding your own way to combat DP. May I suggest you try going without the late night glass of milk for a few days, just to see if that's having an impact upon your BG. Milk has naturally occurring sugars in the form of Lactose. I suspect the 3-4am waking with a pounding heart may well be a "Liver dump." The only way you can confirm that though is by setting your alarm, & taking your BG. Your pounding heart is likely due to the release of glucose into the blood stream. It has that physical effect upon me. It also makes me feel weak-knee'd too. Hate it. Read this..it gives a good explanation & possible preventatives. http://community.diabetes.org/t5/Adults-Living-with-Type-2/DAWN-PHENOMENON/td-p/113294 Good luck.

FBG 5.2 this morning, higher than it has been of late, but I treated myself to 4 baby new potatoes for dinner:hungry:

Hi @Alzebra. I know you've had several FBG's in the 4's recently. But don't be disappointed with any number in the 5's. Those are still within non-diabetic BG levels. You're being hard on yourself. Personally, I'd rather be in the lowish 5's & enjoy a few potatoes or something similar. You're doing great. You know that. So, relax & enjoy your food coz your numbers are GREAT. X

It's been a busy old day today. Woke up to a 5.2 this morning. BG has stayed in the low to mid 5's all day, even after eating. Gotta be happy with those numbers. Even had myself some Ben & Jerrys ice cream with Strawberries after dinner tonight. First time I've had this type of ice cream for a long time. So, it'll be interesting to see if it had an effect upon my FBG tomorrow morning. I'm watching "50 Ways to kill your Mammy" on Sky1. Awww man, it's just hilarious. Love Nancy (the Ma.) If you haven't seen it yet...you've gotta try it. It'll make you feel good. Good health everyone.

@Tirianne. Do you mean whilst posting a reply or asking a question in a thread? If so, then here's how. If you want to post a motivational thought that's already in picture format, then you need to click on "Upload a file" when in the text box you're writing. A box comes up saying "Choose File." Click on that, then "photo library."
