Type 2 Life

I was so naughty and I feel I confounded my impeccable blood glucose reading this morning at 7:20 ante meridian. At 9:16 ante meridian I consumed a very high-carb breakfast of 2 large hard-boiled egg sandwiches, halved diaganolly. It comprised 4 slices of Kingsmill white medium sliced bread, 3 eggs and a sprinkling of salt. My blood glucose reading two hours afterwards, at 11:16 ante meridian was 11.5 and then I hydrated myself with tap water, approximately 4-5 glasses full, and took my blood glucose again at 12:25 post meridian and it was 9.7. Silly me.

@autisticwonder1970, I've noticed of late that your biggest downfall seems to be sandwiches (and impulsiveness to eat more than one at a sitting). As silly as it may sound, if you live on your own, how about trying not buying bread? You could buy romaine lettuce and have that for sandwich urges. My daughter lives on her own and she eats impulsively too, and just NOT buying stuff is the only way she keeps herself in check. Otherwise, like you, she could sit and easily eat several in one go. I don't buy crisps or biscuits anymore because I just can't do it, I THINK I'll just have one biscuit with a cuppa, but unfortunately I just end up eating far too many and beating myself up afterwards. Crisps are the same thing, so I just don't buy them. Ever. (My poor kids :p)

(((Hugs))) either way.

@Jordi77 - That is the very same meter that I used to use, before switching to the 'freebie' one my GP Practise issued me. Can I ask what you pay for the test strips & Lancets for the contour next usb. :cat:

I pay nothing as I get them via the medical exceptions certificate as I just give the gp the code for the test strips and the lancets and I now get all my medication medically exempt

@Jordi77 - Now that is interesting and I am pleased you get them.
I was explaining earlier to another member that I used the Contour Next USB as I use Insulin (and Metformin), but my GP Practise last year sent me a letter saying that I could no longer have the test strips/lancets free on prescription anymore, and if I wanted to continue using that meter then I would have to buy them OR accept their cheap GlucoRx Nexus meter and strips/lancets free. I opted for their offer of a freebie and 100 test strips every 2 months. Where in the country is your medical practise? :)
Are you on Insulin? And any other medications?

Mine is in Gateshead Tyne and Wear and I was always able to get any med on prescription and I use strong pain relief for damage to joints and I never have been told that before even when I have changed my blood meter over from one to the other

I'm the only one in the family diagnosed type 2 my late dad and his dad were both type 1 in fact my grandad passed away aged 33 due to diabetes I never even knew him

One of my sisters is type 1

I was born with pancreas divisum only discovered in my 30's and yet when they found that out I was labelled as type 2

I have questioned my diagnosis but GP says I'm type 2

Yet look at my profile pic I'm not obese I'm in my weight range and I know that's how the majority of non diabetic folk wrongly view type 2's as being podgy blighters

Whenever I question my diagnosis with any new HCP they look on screen and say you are type 2

I bet many folk are completely misdiagnosed and many more undiagnosed

Sorry for sounding bleak

So I'm type 2

Other things now

It is a beautiful hot sunny day

I have done a minimal amount of work in the garden earlier and settled down this afternoon to watch the French Open

I am off work next week so will try and up the work rate in the garden

I hope you are having decent weather where you are and also a decent day at whatever you are doing

I have had diabetes since 6-7yrs old but not diagnosed in the 1970s.
I had symptoms then. I have done my own version off Newcastle diet to it's extreme. Leaving me nearly with a eating disorder. I lost huge amounts of weight but I still had pcos and insulin resistance. I was much younger then and able to jog everyday and eat like a mouse. I was still 15st plus. Nothing helped me lose weight. No other family member had/has diabetes.
Trust me to be different. lol
Metformin helped me get pregnant with infertility through being a small sufferer of pcos. I lost 2 stone on metformin. I was 17stone plus when I got pregnant and never put any weight on whilst pregnant. In fact I lost a little.
My diabetes is hormonal. I get very bad bouts of anxiety after dealing with my partner's illness and stressful episodes. I would leave him but his kids would be fatherless as he cannot live his life on his own. His anxiety is too severe for that, at the moment. I am loyal to my partner as he is loyal to me. I respect his medical condition like he respects mine. We are like two peas in a pod, looking after each other and looking after our kids.
I experienced a lot of stress as a child in my father's hands. I guess I'm a produce of the beer brewed in the north-east and lack of medical support in the 1970s for my father and me.
When they say the quiet ones are the worst, don't believe them. Ha ha

@Jordi77 - Yes I too take pain relief medications for Arthritis of the Spine (2 Herniated Lumbar Disc's) but, have been suffering for almost 6 months joint pain in my hips, shoulders and back of my neck, I see the Rheumatologist in late June and hope He can tell me if the Arthritis has spread. I take Tramadol and Pregabalin and on an injection every month. Pain, Stress and Worry push up blood sugars - do you find this? :)

@ickihun - Vicky, Who said You were quiet!!!!:D We love you to bits just as you are, would not want you to change for anything or anybody. :) William xx

Still pi**ed off and in pain. These blooming antibiotics better start to shift this. Grr :(

I found this out about a few months ago when I was told that I had a frozen shoulder and a trapped nerve in my neck and I am on Tramadol and amitrypiline and a few others just to try and ease the pain which it doesn't and physio and I know that doesn't work but my main injuries are a double broken knee which was done in two car accidents and I have nearly broken every bone in my body after that so I know what you are going through in pain and then diabetes on top but I have had it for 22 years and counting and up to now I have had very few hypos except one where the police thought I was drunk but I was having a hypo outside which they can arrest you and then when they check you out and never knew they took me straight to hospital for treatment before the apologies

@Jordi77 - That is my Biggest FEAR, having a Hypo in a Public Place! I have only had 3 hypos in 2 years (since using Insulin) but, luckily each one has been at home. So I always carry Glucose Tablets and 2 Yoghurt coated Museli bars when out. Physio did nothing for me, whereas Acupuncture did help for a short time to ease the Pain. So, you will be well educated on Diabetes after 22 years then? :)

I know the pain you must suffering Eddie - sending you big HUGS. Hopefully not to long till the Antibiotics start to do their job.

I know more tricks of the trade than most people as when you have a hypo and someone gives you a cup of tea or coffee with sugar don't add milk as the milk makes the sugar take a long time to be absorbed into your system and the quickest way for sugar in the body is chocolate bars coke and lucozade and nothing else is that quick and that I do know as tried everything you can buy on the street

Off to start Evening Meal for one (me). R dog sitting at Daughters over the weekend till Son arrives from Cambridge on Sunday Evening. Having Boiled egg (2) Salad followed by home grown stewed Rhubard and Greek Yoghurt. See's you all later.

Now I have been placed on to a high fat diet which means I can eat basically everything and I don't need to worry about it as that is what the dietician told me when I was there the last time and the same for the doctor so I am not arguing with that if I need it then I will

. Lucky you William I've had dozens of hypos outside, had one yesterday, was shaking stuttering, so embarrassing, shoving jelly babies in my mouth just as I was about to pay!!! Think I should see doctor, my diabetes isn't under control, getting really down past few months, became bit reclusive for few months, living alone is new to me, & a no go, to quiet. 7.2 this morning, been going up recently. Have good day everyone
