Type 2 Life

Lizanne has gone to the seaside today. Do you reckon she will bring us all a stick of rock back??:p:p

@liam1955 NAE chance pal! All - Back home now with big son watching TV I've got a minute or two to be on forum. 10 miles after leaving home the rain turned to sleet, another few miles and the sleet turned to snow. We ate our picnic in the car watching the high winds blow a kite surfer through the freezing sleet - we Scots are made from iron girders! Now I'm off to make veg curry for hubby and son and frittata with cold meats for me. William, I was naughty and bought EIGHT finger rolls and two wheaten scones today. I don't think that they will affect my blood sugar ( only kidding) hope that everyone had a good day so far?

@13lizanne - Anna, I put that because I knew you were back home and on the Forum - ha, ha. Yes, "thanks" to message. Wanted you not to worry - thinking of your b.s.. Wmx

@13lizanne - What no M & S Ham for your finger rolls?? Now, I adore Scotland's Potato Scone's - the English Potato Scones are like rubbish. Sorry it rained for your day out. Not had 1 Snow Flake here in York. Enjoy your dinner. Wmx

@TooManyCrisps - That is a brilliant result. I know lentils and pulses are carbohydrates - but I don't think? they are as high as Potatoes. Someone will come along, read this and put us right - but that is what I love about this forum, we are all so knowledgeable about different things and help each other. I use pulse's a lot in homemade vegetable soup, a lot of people don't like them! (they can give you wind) Well Done you on your b.s. this morning I have awarded you = WINNER - yeah!!!:):)

Thanks @liam1955. I know pulses are a better bet than bread etc but have very carefully avoided them since diagnosis. I might start introducing them now and again to see if I can tolerate them a bit. I used to eat loads of hummus, lentils etc and really miss them.

@TooManyCrisps - I too like lentils, pulses etc. I prefer Summer to Winter for meals as I enjoy salads and all the things that one can make with the abundance of what's available. We have an Allotment and grow a lot of Fruit & Veg. I make Chutneys and Jams in late Summer/early Autumn, and we freeze loads. Winter time it means we have Raspberrys, Rhubarb, Quince and Veggies to eat. But, you could try different pulse's and see what effect they have on your blood sugars and if not too much, introduce them back into your diet. We all respond differently to foods, what works for one diabetic may have a disastrous effect on other. Yet today my b.s. have been rubbish!!!! Can't be good all the time! Well done. William.

Gosh, you sound very productive!
I hope you have better readings tomorrow.

We call them tattie scones @liam1955 well, I'm definitely going to have one of my very occasional (ahem) alcoholic drinks later. Early shower, into pjs and a large glass of red I think tonight. What's everyone else doing?

Mm tattie scones, naughty but nice! Glad you made the best of your day out Anna, I took a day off from the shop because I'm still feeling a little sniffly and didn't want to pass on my germs to anyone else. I've been knitting and reading while DS watched YouTube all afternoon, so we're both nice and relaxed now :)

Excellent! Enjoy your evening. P.S I can't stop thinking about tattie scones now :)
Lol and me :) I got some carrot and butternut squash soup yesterday, it says it's 11.4 g carbs per serving so I'm trying that for my tea. Fingers crossed it won't spike me too much

I've searched in the chest freezer @13lizanne I thought I had some Tattie Scone's in there. When I visit Scotland usually I bring back a dozen packs and freeze them. Just sat watching the Voice on tv and (both) on our Kindle's waiting to watch Casualty. Enjoy your wine in your jim-jams and enjoy the evening. William x

I've necked the wine watching The Voice and am waiting for Casualty too. I'm buying a packet of tattie scones tomorrow at Tesco and its all your fault :)

I am making some chocolate cup cakes and chocolate chip cookies for Girls Brigade cake sale tomorrow
Do the GB raise money for your church @loulou99782 ? We all seem to be obsessed with food tonight. We could start with @Diamum5972 s soup followed by your cupcakes - purchased for GBs sale funds of course. I've just eaten a finger roll with ham and now I'm dreaming of tattie scones and choc cup cakes :)
