Type 2 Life

Hello @eddie1968 I've never been a fan of them. I'd rather fry chips myself. I've not been eating potatoes and chips at all which was why I thought the celeriac ones would make a change.
I like my air fryer, a teaspoon of oil and the chips are dry and fluffy. I don't eat a lot of chips but they are still in my diet.

Woke at 4.30am so tested out of curiosity 3.3 but no hypo symptoms. I tested again at 6.30am and I was showing 4.2. Wont test now til after b/fast about 10ish. Feel I'm testing too much and fingers need a break. Ha ha
I've tried the reheated potato theory. Spiked to 8.3 one hour later...so far. Fried sunday roast mash with cheese.
@liam1955 I've stopped my diuretic diabetic med as since I've stopped my leg has totally transformed from a cripple to walking without pain. I cannot believe that tablet caused so much anguish for me. Any change to your body other than thrush?
Lol...over-testing is a pain. I am currently having to test 4 times daily as I am titrating my insulin up. My wee pinkie finger looks like a teabag and wish I could test less. I remember when I first went on insulin years ago and the anxiety of hypos made me test constantly through fear of fainting in a hypo. Now I can get lazy with testing. :):p

Weighed myself yesterday, 85.5kg, down from 87kg. Eating more healthily and no flab now.:)

@mo53 I find any frozen chips out of a bag are worse for my BGs than pure potatoes peeled and chipped and done in my Actifry. No grease and better BGs.
@eddie1968 I reheated mash potato today and added cheese. It was lovely and after 2 hours my bg was 6.6.
Have you heard of that reheating theory? I cannot remember who posted it but I thought I'd give it a go for lunch.
Apparently only rice is dangerous to reheat but chips/homemade or frozen should work - for me. Give it a try with a small handful?

I love making cheesy potatoes, I grate a lot of cheese into the mash and top it of with a layer of mixed cheeses and stick it under the grill for a few minutes. Thanks for tonight's supper suggestion lol. ;):)

@ickihun - like the idea of re-heated mash, I read about that reheating on this forum, but cannot remember = who? Or when it was? @mo53 - don't own a fryer, never cook chips, prefer them from Filey/Whitby/Scarborough with Fish & Mushy Peas. Let us know about the Celeriac Chips how they taste? I buy jars of sauerkraut, have you tried that? I know which Garden Centre you mean, we keep saying we will go ' one day'? @eddie1968 - Hi and hope you are feeling much better today?:)

@liam1955 not feeling any improvement. I hope to get results and treatment from the hospital soon. The time off is a god send and having no pressure during the day is relaxing me more but I am still tired all the time.:)

@eddie1968 - That is good news and then your treatments can then begin, and you can start on the road to recovery and have a better quality of life. Do keep us updated?:)

Cheers @liam1955 today has been better psychologically for me so that's an improvement. Physically I am still not up for much but I am optimistic it will resolve soon and I can resume a normal life. As a man I fall into the "hate seeing doctors, hate being in hospital" category and it can work against you. I have realised I need to recover and be positive. :)

@13lizanne how are you feeling now ? Hypos can be cruel. I've had a few low readings in the 1 and 2 mmol/l range and they can take days to overcome. Usually you have a headache and feel yukky on recovery. Fingers crossed I haven't had one for a while.:)

Hi @eddie1968 I don't know if it was a hypo or just a really low reading. The lowest reading I've had previously was 3.7 and that was after an hour's walk. I feel o.k thanks

Good news, My lowest was 0.8 mmol/l done by a Paramedic. I have self tested and my lowest was 1.5 mmol/l and was very sweaty and shaky and knew something was obviously wrong.

And I start to go "bizarre" around 3.8! My one and only FEAR is that I never want to have one when out alone - that is a scary thought. I know we all differ with warnings. So Eddie do you not get any early warnings symptoms?

Morning. Restless night, got 6 hours kip but considering I slept a lot yesterday I thought I wouldn't sleep. FBG of 5.6 mmol/l this morning. Going to have breakfast and inject insulin. :)

Eek! I've never gone that low, when I was first diagnosed I used to get false hypos at about 4.5. Mind you, I haven't had an fbg below 4 yet so I don't know what effect it will have when it does go down that low

I had a Risotto for dinner last night and it was homemade with vegetables - when I went to bed at 1.30am my blood sugar was only 6.5. So the reading this morning must have had a liver dump!! Also weighed myself this morning and not lost any more or put on weight = so got something right.

Thank You @mo53 . I have got Leeks (grown on our Allotment) going to part steam them, place in oven dish - make a onion, celery, mushroom and cheese sauce to pour over and sprinkle grated cheese on and bake - that's my dinner today. Yes, do let me know about the Celeriac Chips.
