Type 2 Life

@ickihun - I rang the GP Surgery yesterday and they rang me back to confirm that I can take TRAMADOL 50mgs no more than 3 a day but only take when really needed.The only bad thing is they raise my blood sugars too much and therefore I get false readings! I've been preparing veggies to make soup in the crock pot for 2 hours this lunch time and I find being on the go brilliant. My bed just does not like me and find sat on the sofa fine - I even fall asleep for about 20 -30 minutes. Thanks for caring - Bless You.:)
Can I suggest to concentrate on your pain management first. Then lower bgs and fbgs?
William you can only get your bgs right when your right.
Pain management first then bgs please.
Have you been following @ali1? She has to sort her other medical problem meds first then bgs. She is struggling but she is a beacon for getting your body sorted first then worrying about bgs/fbgs.
Most insulin resistant patients have other medical problems which always interfer with bgs. That's why me and you are given insulin to get better control. I know adds weight but it's needed.
Look I'm with you and all the others routing for you.
Take Tramadol as instructed with new injections and kick this pain up the jacsy!
Let bgs do there thing with lchf. Eat low carb when you want to nibble. Anything you enjoy but not carbs. Carbs just give you cravings for more. Eat as much as you like low carb - fill up.
I'm guaranteeing you you will be a happy William ready to tweek to perfect. :) :) :)

A little stiffer with myself yesterday, just did not eat as much as I have and so had
4.6 before dinner
crustless flan, chorizo, cauli, red onion, leaks and cheese, with Sauerkraut and avocado salad
5.3 two hours after
4.9 am.
Went to 5 Sisters zoo nr W Calder, good day out, not too sure about zoos but as many of the animals are refugee from European circuses they are in a better place... the lions have had a rough life. 4 young males, no claws and neutered at an early age.... arrgghhh..
On holiday today, so out for a meaty curry tonight.
@liam1955 impressed by Tunnocks Wafers, they were tops in my old world. Tunnocks got slaughtered not long ago in Scotland for running a very bright ad, which was a play on words for the Great British Bake Off and spreading the word to England. Many locals did not quite get it and thought they were being anti-Scots.... Tunnocks FCS!!! <mini rant over>

I can sympathise liam, the past couple of days I've had a flare up, virtually every joint and muscle being painful to touch.
I'm due to inject my Humira tonight and I've resisted the tramadol and morphine patches, although instead today I did hit the pasties, well half of one :rolleyes:
Still half of a pasties is enough for me to hit a double figure BG with a starting BG of 5.9 upside was I did get 3hrs of on and off sleep this afternoon :happy:

Time for me to hit the reset button, I inject tonight and start again, tomorrow will always hopefully be a better day and I'll get a whole fortnights relief this time round.

Stick with it Liam. fingers crossed your Biological treatment will start working for you soon.

@liam1955 welcome back my friend! We shall call the Tunnocks an experiment, and a very successful one at that :) I've been out and about today, DS met up with some friends in town this afternoon so I was able to run some errands which would usually be met with disapproval!

Hi. I'm hitting 6s lately.
When I'm strict lchf I hit 5s and odd 4s.
When I strict lchf I still don't lose eeight and feel dizzy from time to time.
Happy with 5s or 6s as long as no 7s.
It's very difficult to do anything regimented in this house.
I like lchf but not if it makes me feel not right. I'm happy on 50-100g carbs. :)

@ickihun
5's and 6's are fine I think I read that you were trying to come off insulin and that will have an effect on your readings. As I've never been on insulin I can't help with that but do take care.

Ha, Ha, Ha I like it.:D = Yes, and an enjoyable experiment too. You know me too well. You've had a good day out enjoying this nice weather.:)

Hello @liam1955 the tunnocks sounded good but I like the teacakes best. Yes you are right I swam today. 45 minutes and 30 lengths:) The weather has been beautiful today. Do you watch Masterchef?

@Stallen - Sorry to hear you have had a 'flare up' - any pointers as to why? I certainly feel for you and hope it is short lived. So you have your Biological on an evening - and then when you wake you are OK. Can I ask if your blood sugars are erratic for a few days after injecting the Humira?
Yes, I was offered the Morphine Patches a few years ago, but, with having the Diabetes I refused them.
I went to bed at 1.30am and was up/dressed at 4am the bed is not nice to me, but the sofa is kinder. I find on an evening watching TV I have several "cat naps" for about 20 - 30 minutes so I am getting some sleep. And I keep saying to myself tomorrow I'll be in less pain than I had today = there's always hope! I hope you feel better in the morning and would you put a posting on the thread? As soon as my drug kicks in everybody will hear of it. :)

@mo53 - Well done on the swimming. In the summer months do you swim in the sea at all? Yes, I like both of the Tunnocks Wafers and teacakes - but then this will not surprise anyone!!! I have been really good and not eaten anything sweet today. Guess what we are doing tomorrow? = Food Shopping, but at least I get a toasted T-Cake and a Latte out of it in Waitrose. So I cannot complain really.:)

Hello friends. A question... Could cramp be caused by lack of salt? For the last couple of hours I've been getting cramp in my hands and toes. So I've got an oxo cube dissolved in boiling water to give me some salt. Does anybody have any ideas?

Hello @liam1955 we were posting at the same time. I'm not a great sea swimmer although I love to paddle lol. I tend to stick to the pool all year. I'm going to the hospital tomorrow for my 6monthly glaucoma eye check. I'm sure you will enjoy the shopping, or at least the teacakes. :)

William, I know what you mean about the bed, I have an electric recliner chair and spend most of my nights in it due to being more comfortable when I am uprightish. I can adjust as and when I need to throughout the night. The bonus to this is that I can also watch tv as we have never had 1 in our bedroom, just the other 2.
I hope you can get some rest, there's nothing worse than being in pain AND tired. x

@mo53

Just googled and came up with this, hope it might be of some help

Dehydration: Sports and other vigorous activities can cause excessive fluid loss from perspiration. This kind of dehydration increases the likelihood of true cramps. These cramps are more likely to occur in warm weather and can be an early sign of heat stroke. Chronic volume depletion of body fluids from diuretics (medicine that promote urination) and poor fluid intake may act similarly to predispose to cramps, especially in older people. Sodium depletion has also been associated with cramps. Loss of sodium, the most abundant chemical constituent of body fluids outside the cell, is usually a function of dehydration. Continue Reading
Low potassium: Low potassium blood levels occasionally cause muscle cramps, although it is more common for low potassium to be associated with muscle weakness.

Reading before food = 5.3

Reading after approx. 2hrs = 5.5 :D

Meal consisted of 2 rashers bacon, 2 pork sausages (97%) cooked in oven.
Mushrooms & 1 egg fried in butter (not at the same time) and 1 part cooked multi-seeded roll by Paul Hollywood, sugars = 6.8% per roll.

@mo53
You are very welcome, it was on the medicinenet.com website. I only copied and pasted what I thought may answer your question, there was other info that I didn't go through.

Re the meal, it was tasty and filling. The other thing I have found that may be a strange coincidence is I find that if I snack on a thin piece of cheese a short while before eating (usually buy Cathedral City light) my bloods appear to be lower than if I don't have the cheese.
