Type 2 Life

Hi all, thanks for all the anniversary wishes. Weather has been good. X

Can't believe how it was on the market for less than a week AND you found a place you like in the same space of time !!
I know, but not bragging the house we are living in is well maintained and in excellent decorative order, ready to move into.

The couple really liked it and wanted us to take it off the market before anyone else viewed it, made 2 offers and accepted the 2nd one

Likewise we liked the house were buying, we viewed it twice and had our 2nd offer accepted, we had a 3rd look at it and have drove by a few times at different times of the day, its on less than a mile from Scotby which is very close to Carlisle so less travelling time to work for both of us, semi rural setting but the garden is a lot smaller and in all honesty I was struggling with the gardens upkeep, once my pride and joy but like everything I once enjoyed doing, (gardening, hill climbing and lake walks, tennis, squash and badminton) I have lost all interest in doing any of them, the football stopped in my late 30's,

I have become a slob and I'm not too pleased about it, everything is such an effort, probably years of poor diabetes control has taken its toll, I did intend resuming tennis this season but it aint happening,

Liverpool doesn't sound the kind of place weekend beaks are made of..... give me grass, trees, babbling brooks.....
We have English heritage, National Trust and RSPB memberships so get plenty of quiet time too.
In Liverpool this coming weekend its vintage weekend - we were there same time last year and it was fabulous. So many things to see and do in Liverpool .... we love it.

You do such long hours at work though. Up before the birds many a time.....and you current garden would keep a garden er occupied full time

Liverpool is a fantastic city, thoroughly enjoy my time spent down there, friendly folk, salt of the earth

Mrs Cumbs was there a few weeks ago for a girly weekend (poor liverpudlians) get a gaggle of girlies together and they are wild

I'm starting at 6am tomorrow lol, finishing around 2-2.30 then the dentist at 3.15, that's when I turn into superwuss

Went to a similar show years and years ago. Couldn't afford ANYTHING. expected to get bargains but my knitting and sewing stuff I could buy cheaper at local wool shop or by post from craft magazine ads...pre internet days....it was mega busy then too
I'm a new sewer so I was just looking to build up my fabric stash but the prices were ridiculous! I was also looking for some wool but there were only a couple of stands which sold it, and they were busy as well. I did manage to get some wool to knit socks with, which was good because my local wool shop doesn't stock it. DS loves hand knit socks and is size 13 so more sock wool is always a good thing!

Care to share the fabric shops?
We will probably go to the NEC in Birmingham later this year but also have a fabric addiction .... so would love to visit some shops there too ....
Glad you had a good time ....
We visited the Rag Market which has a couple of fabric stalls, then over the road to the Fancy Silk Store (3 floors of fabric!) And Barry's Fabrics in Moseley Street.

That's one thing I've never made is socks. Have a few patterns which I've meant to try but never gotten around to it. Currently got a crochet dog blanket on the go (giant granny square) and knitting my friend a surprise jumper (think its called a drop rib) neck, shoulders and elbows killing me (as well as splitting headaches) cos still recovering from pressure washing the path yesterday ... It's narrowest is 4feet wide and goes to about 6 feet and nine fence panels long so about 60 feet... A BIG path

You've done a beautiful job of it though!

Was 6.1 this morning - generally good yesterday but a sneaky florentine (dark chocolate) which the Ocado man gave us as a gift ;) 8.6g of carbs so not too bad ....

30 minute swim today and now at 7.1. I'm thinking that is fine as it will come down and I need to exercise? A good protein breakfast of boiled eggs. Will text in 2 hours.

I've seen others say their BG rises after exercise - do I just go with the flow on this? Anything I can do to combat it - I swim pretty intensive for 30 minutes without a break.

Wow, well done! My dad had his own pressure washer for his cleaning business and one time he let me have a go with it. Never again! I was much younger and skinnier than I am now and it nearly blew me off my feet :)
I started knitting socks for my son when I started having difficulty finding socks his size and now he's obsessed with them. The more colourful the better :)

I'm no expert on this by any means, but it seems logical to assume that when you're exercising your liver thinks "Oops - no breakfast, I'd better give him a hand here", so do you think perhaps a small snack of something before you swim might help to give your liver something else to think about?

Having a thoroughly lazy morning, still in pajamas lol. Going for a haircut and some dental work this afternoon. Got a treats shopping list to do as well. Weather is iffy so no other big plans for today. FBG 5.9 mmol/l :)

Hi @PenfoldAPD .
Was 7.1 after your swim or before?
I used to test before and after to see any rise.
Then started to have a very small bag of pork scratchings before swim. It helped.
My stress level used to rise my levels. Getting dressed and the exercise raised my bgs.
Im starting a walking club next month so i may have to do similar.
From what i understand its more important for diabetics not to suffer stress. Gentle as you go!
Because you're conditioned to your swimming and changing yours msy not be too high.
Some find it stressful getting to leisure centre/parking and dressing worse than the swimming /exercise stress.
We do worry too much sometimes.
